The Yunion

The Yunion The Yunion is a faith based, non profit youth serving organization. The Yunion was founded by our current President and CEO Jason Wilson. In 2005, Mr.

In 2003 God gave him the vision to unite gifted and talented Christians nationwide; those determined to be light to youth that were misguided. The Yunion originally started as a record label producing music that countered the potentially deadly influence of the hip-hop culture. However our mission soon changed when we realized that after the music stopped, the negative pressures continued for the population of youth we were called to reach. Wilson pursued establishing the Yunion as a 501c3 faith based non-profit organization, in order to gain access to the funding needed to expand our services. In 2008 we were awarded our first Federal grant for mentoring through the U.S. Department of Education. Today the Yunion has reached over 12000 Metro Detroit youth and families through intensive and innovative programming, engaging workshops, assemblies and conferences. We have collaborated with over 3-dozen schools and community based organizations in helping urban youth.

Through The Yunion’s Social Justice Workforce Development Program, our young people traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, to explore history, culture, education, and leadership firsthand.

Students were given space to learn, reflect, and connect the past to their future.

This is more than a trip. It’s an investment in the next generation of leaders. 💜

Our time at the Peace and Justice Museum was a powerful reminder that history isn’t just something we study—it’s something we carry, learn from, and use to shape the future.

Watching our Level Up Workforce Development Career Manager Mr. Marc and our youth, Marc Jr. take in the experience alongside the group made the moment even more meaningful. From reflection to conversation to simply being present, these are the experiences that help connect generations and remind us of the power of knowing where we’ve come from.

Learn the history. Carry the legacy. Lead with purpose. 🖤✊🏾

We saw history. We experienced legacy. We explored possibility. ✊🏾

Our Level Up young people spent time in Montgomery learning, connecting, exploring HBCUs and making memories along the way.

From the Rosa Parks Museum and EJI Legacy Sites to Alabama State University, Tuskegee University and some well-deserved poolside fun—this was more than a trip. It was an opportunity to see where we’ve been, understand where we are and imagine where they can go.

This experience was made possible through the generous support of The Skillman Foundation, NBA Foundation and Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC). Thank you for investing in our young people and helping us create experiences that extend far beyond the classroom. 💙

That’s Level Up.

09/08/2026

Our Level Up young people continued their Montgomery experience with stops at Harris House and Centennial Hill, connecting with the history, leadership and legacy that shaped our communities.

Then, we shifted our focus to the future with college tours at Alabama State University and Tuskegee University—giving our young people an opportunity to see themselves on campus and imagine what’s possible beyond high school.

And, of course, we made time for what matters too: fellowship, laughter and a little poolside fun! ☀️🏊🏾‍♀️

This is what The Yunion’s Social Justice Workforce Development Program is about—creating experiences that educate, expose and empower our young people while giving them space to simply enjoy being young.

We’re grateful to The Skillman Foundation, NBA Foundation and Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC) for investing in experiences that help our young people see their past, understand their present and dream about their future.

Learn. Explore. Connect. Dream. That’s Level Up. ✊🏾

09/05/2026

History hits different when you can experience it. ✊🏾

And our Level Up young people are getting that experience firsthand in Montgomery, Alabama.

The trip kicked off at the Rosa Parks Museum, where our youth and staff began exploring the history, courage and movement that helped shape our nation. This experience is part of The Yunion’s Social Justice co-hort within our LevelUp Workforce Development program designed to connect workforce development, leadership and social awareness beyond the classroom.

Because sometimes the best lessons happen when you can walk through history, ask questions and see the impact for yourself.

We’re grateful to our incredible grant partners — The Skillman Foundation , NBA Foundation and detroitatwork — for helping make experiences like this possible.

We’re not just preparing young people for the workforce. We’re preparing them for impact. 💙

🚀 LEVEL UP: Summer of Growth, Purpose & Possibility!

This summer, our Level Up Workforce Development Camp participants didn’t just show up—they LEVELED UP! 🙌🏾

From career readiness and leadership development to financial literacy, academic enrichment, team building and hands-on experiences, our young people spent six weeks building the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to take their next steps toward success.

They explored career pathways, connected with professionals, served their community, traveled, learned about history and social justice, and discovered new possibilities for their futures. 💼📚✨

And this was just the beginning.

We’re proud of every Level Up participant for their growth, determination and willingness to step outside of their comfort zones. The future is theirs—and we’re honored to help them prepare for it.

👏🏾 Here’s to a summer of learning, leadership and LEVELING UP!

A day at Lions Training Camp! 🦁🏈

Our CATTA young men had the opportunity to experience Detroit Lions Training Camp and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to compete, lead and perform at the highest level.

For us, it’s about more than a field trip. It’s about exposure. It’s about expanding their vision. It’s about showing them what’s possible.

A special thank you to the Detroit Lions Foundation for investing in experiences that expose our young men to new possibilities and help them see themselves in places they may have never imagined. 💙

Exposure matters. Opportunity matters. And so do our young people.
