Next up: Community Music Jam: Folk & Americana

Hosted by Courtney Wrubel of the Detroit Music Collaborative and featuring musician Dave Zelenak, we’re spending the evening celebrating the rich traditions of folk and Americana through music, storytelling, and community.

Whether you’re a seasoned musician, know a few chords, or simply love singing along, there’s a place for you. Chord charts and lyrics will be provided, so all experience levels are welcome.

Bring an acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, hand percussion, another acoustic instrument, or simply your voice.

No auditions or pressure. Just great music, meaningful connections, and a room full of people creating something together.

DDD In Session presents: We Got Static Shock At Home

Join emerging comic writer (Nefertiti The Pen) for a live experience exploring the lesser-publicized aftermath of the Flint Water Crisis through the lens of the beloved animated series Static Shock.

Part storytelling, part cultural reflection, the evening examines how who gets to tell the story can shape how people, communities, and their realities are seen.

The very first DDD In Session is here.

We’re launching a new series at Detroit Design District that invites creators, neighbors, and curious humans to gather around shared experience all led by the people shaping Detroit’s creative community.

First up: A 90’S Community Jam

Hosted by Courtney Wrubel of the Detroit Music Collaborative and led by musician Brion Riborn, we’re spending the evening singing and playing through the iconic sounds of the ‘90s. Think Nirvana, Alanis Morissette, Pearl Jam, Goo Goo Dolls, Oasis, The Cranberries, and more.

Whether you’re a seasoned musician, know a few chords, or just love belting out the chorus, there’s a place for you. Chord charts and lyrics will be provided, so all experience levels are welcome.

Bring an acoustic guitar, ukulele, cajón, harmonica, hand percussion, another acoustic instrument, or simply your voice.

No auditions or pressure. Just music, community, and a room full of people creating something together.

The dreaming has started!

We welcomed our upcoming DDD In Session hosts into the DDD space to start scheming and developing their session ideas. You’re not going to believe how incredible these sessions are going to be. Special announcements coming soon so you can RSVP to attend each of them!

In the meantime, there are a few slots still available August - December 2026 to become an official DDD In Session host. If want to host a unique workshop, class, overall special experience, this invitation might be for you.
