For so many years, Detroiters have had to deal with the lack of shelters and benches at Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) bus stops. As of today, 80 new benches have been installed throughout the city, and Mayor Mary Sheffield has promised that by the end of 2027, over 400 stops will have new installations as well!

Detroit! We need to show up again on this RenCen project by GM and Bedrock who’s asking for a half a billion in our tax money to tear down parts of the RenCen to build luxury housing and a miniature amusement park on the riverfront.

On Tuesday, September 29th at 5PM the city will be holding a public hearing to hear from us about how we feel about the RenCen project. Our comments will go to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board so they can determine if $300 million of those tax breaks should be given to GM and bedrock.

There is no virtual option, that means if you want to be heard, you have to show up. It’s all going down at the Coleman Young Municipal Center on the 13th floor.

Here we go again, Detroit. Gilbert’s RenCen Redevelopment is scheduled for a community benefits agreement. That means Detroiters will have an opportunity to have a say in what happens to this historic building which has served as a symbol of Detroit for decades and is a legacy of the Coleman Young era.

From the Westside to the Eastside to Southwest, Detroiters deserve a city-wide Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) that supports our community needs and wants.

It’s going down on August 18th at 6pm at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building on the 13th floor in the Erma Henderson Auditorium. Registration link in our bio!

The developer will be there, the city will be there, our money will be there, so make sure you’re there!

Data Centers are coming to Detroit DTE Energy is working with Councilman Scott Benson right now to design policy so they can build data centers in Detroit.

If you’re from Detroit, you know utility bills are a problem! And if data centers come there, it’s likely they will be an even bigger problem.
