The observance of Juneteenth is about the journey and achievement of African Americans - from a horrific period of sanctioned enslavement to the pinnacle of human endeavors. City Talk Magazine, a 501(C) (3) n

Together celebrates Michigan Chapter of Juneteenth and was born to commemorate the African American Independence Day. Juneteenth originates from Galveston, Texas, where on June 19th, 1865, word of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the enslaved, two years after President Lincoln issued the Proclamation. Today, Juneteenth is embraced and celebrated by all races and ethnicities in honor, and in commemoration of African American culture and achievement.
