Hey all,
Tonight we made the difficult decision to permanently cancel this coming Saturday’s Funder Fun Night Event. As some of you know, some of our prizes were sponsored by Motor City Casino whose workers are currently on strike and will be for the foreseeable future. We received the sponsorship in August, prior to the strike, but would be remiss to include the sponsorship in any event we do.
We also considered where it makes the most sense to put our organizing efforts, thoughts, and energy while the west continues to support the active and escalading genocide of the Palestinian people, and we do not feel it’s right to continue with a party at this time. We encourage you to connect with , , , and at this time. We continue to stand in solidarity with striking workers at Motor City, MGM Grand, and Greektown Casinos. We continue to stand in solidarity with all of those in the political struggle for freedom in Palestine. From the river to the sea may Palestine flourish and be free.
We completely understand that many of you jumped through hoops to buy tickets, get sitters, and prepare to dance a laugh the night away. Y’all stuck with us as we faced complications with the staff of both and , confirmed prizes, and reached out to you via call, text, email, and carrier pigeon. We want to especially thank and who were amazing at every turn with their willingness to be our MC and DJ. We appreciate your continued willingness to show up and show out.
We don’t take this decision lightly and we hope to engage you all soon. We can sense the excitement to fund and support mutual aid in Detroit. We will follow up with ticket holders in the coming days and appreciate you all.
