Before there was a national art museum, there was a mansion on Ferry Street.

Join the Detroit Institute of Arts and Wayne State University on June 7 at 2PM for a special lecture with Dr. Chase Robinson, Director of the National Museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian, commemorating the 120th anniversary of Charles Lang Freer's gift of his renowned collection to the Smithsonian - the act that helped establish America's first national art museum. Wayne State University is making headlines in the world of medical innovation.

Wayne State and RediMinds Inc. have been awarded a new patent for a breakthrough surgical technology that detects and visualizes arterial bleeding in real time during robotic and laparoscopic procedures. Developed by Dr. Abhilash K. Pandya, the system uses computer vision, machine learning, and augmented reality to help surgeons identify and control bleeding quickly and precisely - with the potential to save lives and improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Another example of the groundbreaking research happening right here in the Cultural Center.
