30 years ago today, you came into our lives, my dearest Action. I had no idea that day would become a lifetime adventure.
You arrived as Action Shot. I wanted to know more...the NGA was able to tell me you were "Airs Action Shot". I called you Action and Pooh.
Along our journeys I met a trainer that knew you, he called you "Tango". He had hauled a load of retirees and we got to talking. He recognized your name and we went and brought Action to see him, Mr Cole. I am not sure who was more excited.
That moment showed me that racing and pet people both equally care about the hounds. And that the hounds equally loved both racing and retirement.
I was so proud to take you for walks and meet and greets. I was overjoyed by the love and attention you gave me. To be loved for by such an amazing soul, I am not sure I was worthy of you.
The opportunities and experiences I have had, were inspired by you.
Visits to many race tracks, and farms. The dog hauls and transports. Working in the race kennel, and farms - so much to learn and understand.
Meet and Greets, home visits and fostering. Joy and sometimes sadness. But everything so worth the effort.
You became ill for a bit. We did many different things to give you comfort and quality of life. We just wanted to keep loving you. We let you go in Sep of 2000, the worst day of my life.
Do you remember what I whispered in your Ear? The promise I made? I've kept that promise sweet Pooh. I am tired and slowing down, but I will continue to keep that promise.
35 Grey-Angels later - i have loved them all so very much. I am not sure how many pieces of my heart are left. But I will continue to keep that promise. I will honor and love our beautiful family of hounds and kitties.
On this journey i have made friends, lost friends, had fun along with sadness and disappointment. But what an adventure.
The secret to My life Action, was You. Because of you, I am here now. I love and miss you so much.
30 years today, and I will never forget our first day ❤️🐾
Love Mom.
