Today we held our 5th Annual Junior / Explorer Firefighter Training Day. Juniors & Explorers from Bowmansville Volunteer Fire Association, Depew Fire Department, Lancaster Fire Department, Millgrove Volunteer Fire Department, & Twin District Fire Company gathered to train together! Stations included :
Basic EMS Skills and Ambulance operations presented by Lancaster Ambulance
Forcible entry
Fire Due Engine Operations
Extrication Tool Basics including playing Jenga and handling eggs. Special thanks to Tony from Fire Rescue Products for allowing us to borrow tools.
Survival Skills taught by Erie County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Services
When our training was finished we played a few rounds of Waterball! Having fun but still training!
We would also like to thank the Erie County Fire Chiefs for donating our water and Gatorade today!

This year we remembered an Explorer Advisor from Bowmansville who has been part of our Training Day since we started. Bob Voelker was truly missed today! We will continue to Honor Bobs commitment to training our youth through an annual award that will be given to one outstanding Junior / Explorer during our training. Today we were honored to recognize Bob’s sons Caleb and Mason who both serve as Explorers with Bowmansville! We look forward to recognizing our youth in remembrance of Bob!
