"Vision Zero doesn’t work well in cities where everyone has to drive. In those places it’s hard for policymakers to slow down cars, which is the best way to save lives. Instead of thinking about controlling cars better, Americans need to think about mode shift — reducing the number of people who need to travel by car at all."

Why did American streets get so deadly for those on foot or bikes? A leading transportation safety researcher sees some surprising factors behind the crisis.

Colorado Blvd needs a makeover, and better transit is key to transformation, but we need your help to get it.

The planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project could bring fast, frequent, reliable buses in their own lane, zipping by traffic and making the whole corridor safer and easier to get around. But that dedicated lane is already at risk of being watered down.

We’re building a Colorado Blvd Action Team of community members ready to organize and mobilize the support of businesses, service providers, residents, transit riders, and more to help win real BRT.

We need all hands on deck. Wanna see a better Colorado Blvd? Fill out the interest survey (no commitment) and our Organizing Director will be in touch asap about next steps! bit.ly/CoBRTteam

Car drivers who killed U.S. walkers cost the U.S. economy more than $40 billion in the first half of 2025 alone, according to a new analysis from the Governor’s Highway Safety Association.

The financial burden of pedestrian deaths still adds up to tens of billions of dollars even as fatalities fall — and the organization behind the new finding hopes the staggering price of road violence will motivate people to finally take action.

New research on traffic safety: "One of the best safety strategies for planners and engineers is to help people spend less time behind the wheel of a car by making walking, biking, and transit easier to use."

The most effective way to stay safe on city streets is remarkably simple: drive less. A new report from StreetLight Data suggests that the vehicle miles traveled (VMT) is the single most important factor in determining how safe a city’s streets are for everyone. Risk is not solely caused by bad dr...
