We support Denver as a global city through fostering collaboration and partnership across borders and Colorado as a state that is deeply connected to the Americas. Today’s global work environment calls for greater understanding of our shared commonalities to create a more inclusive world and workplace. We’re committed to convening and connecting leaders from the business, academic, civic and cultural sectors to inspire change across our Hemisphere.

Meet the panel behind this year’s Americas Leadership Luncheon featured conversation.

This year’s panel, The Past Is the Future brings together three leaders from across the Americas who are proving that tradition doesn’t have to stay in the past. Through craftsmanship, food, and public space, they’re transforming cultural heritage into new ideas, opportunities, and impact.

Toronto, you were good to us. 🇨🇦✨ Last week, Culture Club got back from four days of art, architecture, incredible food and plenty of exploring at the 2026 Toronto Biennial of Art.

Together with our members, we got an inside look at Toronto’s creative scene, from exhibition previews and artist studio visits to public art, performances and, of course, some very good meals along the way. Highlights included a behind-the-scenes preview of the Toronto Biennial, Dawoud Bey at the AGO, Delcy Morelos at MOCA, Rebecca Belmore’s Gichigami, a visit with artist Nancy Jane Friedland, and much more.

A huge thank you to the Consulate General of Canada for partnering with us to make this Culture Trip possible, and to everyone in Toronto who welcomed our crew.

This week, we brought together partners from Denver Arts & Venues , Denver Community Planning & Development + Landmark Preservation , Denver Economic Development & Opportunity , the Downtown Denver Partnership , and Denver’s creative community to continue a conversation that began at our SWOT Salon this spring.

Exploring the question: How can arts and culture serve as an engine powering Downtown Denver?

One thing was clear, Denver has no shortage of talented, driven creatives ready to help shape the future of downtown. The opportunity now is finding collaborative ways to turn that energy into action, especially as traditional arts funding faces growing economic pressures.

The conversation surfaced tangible next steps, from Denver Economic Development & Opportunity and Downtown Denver Partnership helping better connect creatives with available downtown spaces, to the Downtown Denver Partnership developing an activation toolkit, to Denver Arts & Venues working across City agencies to simplify permitting and create clearer pathways for bringing creative ideas to life.

There’s more work to do, and more voices to bring to the table. But the shared goal is taking shape: a downtown where artists and creatives have clearer pathways, stronger support, and the right partners to help make the magic happen.

In 2016, Mark Falcone from Continuum Partners joined Biennial of the Americas for our Americas Summit in 🇧🇷 Brazil. Inspired by the conversations, ideas, and experiences shared there, he returned to Denver with an idea: create an experimental, low-cost community rooted in creativity and connection.

That idea became the Blue Houses.

The project brought together 🇲🇽 Mexico City-based architecture studio PRODUCTORA , local architect and contractor Joe Dooling (DDB), and Continuum Partners to create a new model for artist co-housing in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood.

Nearly a decade later, that connection comes full circle.

This past month, our 🇲🇽 Mexico City-based Artist in Residence, Víctor del Oral , called the Blue Houses home during his four-week residency in Denver. While there, Victor created a new body of work influenced by his daily bike rides through RiNo and downtown Denver, drawing from the city’s architecture, graffiti, signage, and visual landscape.

Today, the Blue Houses continue the mission that first inspired their creation. The campus is now owned and operated by Community Arts Stabilization Trust (Community Arts Stabilization Trust) in collaboration with the Denver Cultural Property Trust, providing eight affordable homes where artists can both live and work.

From an exchange of ideas in Brazil, to architects in Mexico City, to a creative community taking root in Denver, and now a Mexico City artist making the Blue Houses his temporary home, this is what can happen when connections across the Americas are given the space to grow.

One of our favorite things about our weekly Culture Hops is what happens alongside the main event.

Last Friday, Culture Club members joined us for a Culture Hop, where we stepped inside the studio of our Artist in Residence, Víctor del Oral for an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the making of a piece inspired by his time here in Denver.

But each Hop also gives our members a reason to explore a new corner of Denver and the surrounding area, meeting artists, discovering small businesses, and experiencing the creative spaces that make these neighborhoods what they are.

This time, that meant exploring RiNo Art District’s Studios on Blake, a collection of working artist studios within the Backyard on Blake complex, and discovering the work of other local artists along the way.

Members also had the chance to get to know businesses throughout the development, including Blue Sparrow Coffee , spicylibrariandenver , and Jupiter & Jo | formerly Judith & Joe | 3040 Blake St. among several others, much of this area being completely new discoveries for our members.

It’s a small example of what Culture Club is all about: opening doors, getting curious and giving our members new reasons to keep exploring and supporting the communities around them.

As comes to a close tomorrow, we’re proud to join our partners Welcoming America in celebrating what it means to build places where people feel welcomed, valued and inspired to participate.

For Biennial of the Americas, that work happens all year long. It looks like stepping into an artist’s studio for the first time, hearing a perspective different from your own, supporting the people and places shaping our neighborhoods, or building a relationship with people and communities across cultures and borders.

Through art, culture, conversation and idea exchange, we’re proud to create opportunities for people to show up with curiosity, learn from one another and deepen their sense of belonging in Colorado and across the Americas.

Welcoming Week may be ending, but the work of building a more welcoming community continues.

“Justine A. Chambers channels the overwhelming beauty of Black living.” - Stir Magazine

For one night only, we’re bringing Canadian dance artist and educator Justine A. Chambers to Denver for The Brutal Joy: A Lecture, a performative lecture on Black vernacular line dance, personal style, and the histories carried through movement.

We first discovered Chambers’ work at the 2024 Toronto Biennial of Art on one of our Culture Trips, and felt inspired to bring her one-of-a-kind performance to Denver for our community to witness.
