The Denver Kids Young Professionals Council is accepting applications through the end of May.

Our Young Professional Council is made of volunteers in the Denver community who work alongside the organization and the Board of Directors to increase awareness and raise funds for the Denver Kids program, while developing future philanthropic and nonprofit leaders in the greater community.

Congratulations to the Denver Kids graduating seniors who were nominated for the Donna Hultin Excellence Award.

Donna Hultin dedicated 28 years to Denver Kids as a Counselor, Executive Director, and Board Member. She was known for her ability to connect people to this work. Donna was a graduate of George Washington High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The Donna Hultin Excellence Award, through the Rotary Club of Denver, continues her legacy. It’s not just financial support—it’s a signal to students that this community believes in them, stands behind them, and is invested in their future.

Huge congratulations to Denver Kids student, Gladys, who won the Donna Hultin Excellence Award and cash gift to support her on her college journey. Additionally, Denver Kids students, Cindy and Takiyah, received runner-up awards.

The event also included a speech from Arbay Mohamed, 2021 Graduate from North High School and Denver Kids Alum. Arbay spoke to the value of Volunteer Mentors, her Advisors, and the life long relationships she has built. Arbay is finishing her education degree and student teaching!

Thank you to Wally and Rachel Hultin and the committee of Rotarians who reviewed the applications, selected the award winner, and helped make this event possible for our students.

Denver Kids raced into the end of the school year at Denver's Colfax Marathon! 🏃‍➡️

We had another successful year, with over 25 students, 6 Denver Kids Advisors, and 56 runners competing in different events. Thank you so much to everyone who participated and stopped by the tent!

Denver Kids Advisor Zian shared, “My student, Jaden, who ran the 5k with Denver Kids recently came into my office to show me a video of him running almost a mile over the weekend (he never ran before this)! So cool! You never know when you'll spark the interest of a student.”

The Denver Kids 2026 Homecoming Gala was a night of community, connection, and totally tubular fun! ⚡️

Huge thank you to all of our sponsors, attendees, and supporters who helped make this event a success. Thanks to you, our generous community, the Gala raised $450,000! Funding allows our Advisors to continue walking alongside students on their path towards graduation and beyond.

Denver Kids is excited to spotlight our second beverage sponsor at the Denver Kids Homecoming Gala, Outlaw Light, Americas new light beer! 🍺

Outlaw Light has served as the beverage sponsor of different Denver Kids events since 2015. At the Homecoming Gala, guests were able to enjoy a complimentary selection of beers and canned cocktails thanks to their contribution.

When students see what’s possible for their future, they believe it and achieve it!

Last week, Denver Kids middle school students from DCIS had the opportunity to visit The University of Colorado at Boulder campus. Students toured college dorms, classrooms, libraries, and cafeterias, got a behind the scenes look of the football facilities, and met many staff and students.

Denver Kids Advisor, Zian, shared, “Throughout the day students were wide eyed, excited, full of questions, and blown away by the experience. Overall students learned a lot about what college even is, how students day to day lives are, and what they need to start focusing on in their middle school lives, to reach college one day! This experience changed students' perspectives and gave them motivation to be their best selves going forward!”

Denver Kids Alum and Board Member, Nigel Daniels, is a Regional Program Manager at CU. He aided students as they visited the CU Boulder campus. He says, “Watching our Denver Kids middle school students walk across CU Boulder was a powerful reminder that exposure creates opportunity and that opportunity can make dreams into reality.”

Denver Kids is grateful for the support of Decoy Wines at our Homecoming Gala last month!

Decoy Wines served as one of the beverage sponsors of the most tubular event of the season. With their generosity, guests enjoyed a complementary selection of wines from the Decoy portfolio all night long. 🍷

Last week, 15 Denver Kids staff members gathered to celebrate the Mexican-American holiday, Cinco de Mayo, through a service event at Community Table. Community Table is one of the largest emergency food assistance providers in the metro Denver area, serving not only food to thousands of families each week, but also providing community resources such as emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities.

The Denver Kids Latin Affinity Group, organized the event to honor culture, heritage, and pride, and serve our community.

Denver Kids staff helped prepare for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the nation conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers. Staff put together 540 boxes that will be used to collect donations that people gave to their mail carriers this past weekend. Last year, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive provided nearly 59,000 pounds of food to families. 🍴
