"🚧 East Colfax is changing — and The Fax Partnership is working to make sure local businesses have support during construction.

CBS Colorado featured Monica Martinez, Executive Director of The Fax Partnership, discussing the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit project and the grant funding available to eligible businesses impacted by construction.

Small businesses along East Colfax may qualify for grants between $7,500 and $15,000 to help offset challenges like reduced access, parking impacts and decreased foot traffic.

The Fax is proud to work alongside the City of Denver and Mile High United Way to help connect East Colfax businesses with resources, support and visibility during this major corridor transition.

📊 New data shows East Colfax families are being pushed to the edge.
The cost of living is rising faster than incomes—and the impact is real.

💸 Since 2020:
Rent is up 33%
Mortgage costs up 45%
Utilities up 41%
🏠 And the impact is real:
34% of households under $75K report housing instability
17% are doubling up, with someone sleeping on a couch
34% are not accessing public benefits they may qualify for
⚠️ Residents are being forced to make tough choices—struggling to afford repairs, keep homes comfortable, and stay in the neighborhoods they’ve called home for years.
🛒 What does the community need most?
Affordable housing (especially for very low-income residents)
A grocery store and essential services
Safer streets and stronger community spaces

💛 Despite it all, residents want to stay. Many have been here for over a decade—and are fighting to remain.
👉 This report is a call to action for partners, policymakers, and community leaders to invest in East Colfax and protect the people who make it home.
