We're excited to introduce our new Director of Early Childhood Policy, Meghan McCann! ๐ŸŽ‰

For more than a decade, Meghan has provided public policy research and support to state-level policymakers across the country. In six years with the National Conference of State Legislatures, three and a half years with Education Commission of the States and two years with the Forum for Youth Investment, Meghan has worked on a myriad of issues, including P-20 education policy, student health and wellness, human services, two-generation approaches, child support and family law, and youth development.

๐Ÿ“Š The data is clear. Public investments work and Colorado's kids are better off because of them.

The Colorado Poverty Measure, funded by Gary Community Ventures and developed by the Columbia University Center on Poverty and Social Policy, reveals how programs like the Family Affordability Tax Credit, SNAP, and housing assistance help lift tens of thousands of Colorado children out of poverty each year.

However, our latest Kids in Focus research brief, Proof It Works: Public Investments Reduce Colorado Childhood Poverty, shows that progress isn't guaranteed. Rather, proposed federal cuts and state budget constraints are threatening these critical supports.
