Cormac McCarthy, author of “No Country for Old Men” passed away yesterday at 89. But there was much much more to him than being an author.

What we love about his story is he proved you can become what you want and learn what you want. Just because he was a writer it didn’t stop him from eventually getting involved with one of the top institutes in the world, Santa Fe Institute, which was started by former Manhattan Project scientists.

Cormac McCarthy, a trustee of the Santa Fe Institute and one of the greatest American novelists, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, at his home in Santa Fe. He was 89 years old.
