North Carolina ran a program that helps people with the basics that keep them healthy: food, housing, and a way to get to the doctor. It saved the state money too.

We fought to keep it funded. Our board member Kody Kinsley helped build it when he ran the state's health department, and he's working to bring the idea to more states. This is what good government looks like, and we want a lot more of it.

A coalition of states just held Meta accountable for how its apps affect kids, and Colorado helped lead the way. Here's what the settlement actually does: daily time limits for teens, blocks on late-night use, tougher age checks, and new tools for parents, most of it rolling out in the next few months. It's a real step but there's still more work to be done to protect kids from the harmful effects of social media.
