Update: Dottie tested positive for feline leukemia today. :-(
This is why strict quarantine procedures are needed in cat rescue and why vaccinations are important! My resident cats are safe and sound because we quarantine and vaccinate.
Potentially, this is a false positive and/or she may be able to fight it off as she is young and asymptomatic.
So, we will keep her in quarantine, monitor for symptoms and get her retested in a few months. We are not giving up on this beautiful girl!
Thank you Dr Frank and Horizon Veterinary Service, Inc

"I don't see a lot of Siamese cats roaming the streets of Delphi" - well, that could have changed this week.
Meet Dottie, she is a young Siamese girl obviously dumped in Delphi. How do we know she was dumped?
- We just started seeing her in the last week
- Often she was seen being harassed by other neighborhood cats over territory
- She is very friendly/obviously socialized
- She was very hungry
- We never see Siamese like cats in the area as ferals
- She seems to be at the age where she is just going into heat and I guess it's easier to abandon your cat than get her fixed (!!)
DCWP is getting her fixed, tested for FIV/Felv and vaccinated. She will find her forever home eventually.
She is in quarantine right now :)
AND a Siamese cat colony will NOT have begun in Delphi
