The Delaware City Library is an independent public library in the New Castle County Library System and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to create and promote educational, recreational, and cultural enrichment, and provide community members of all ages with free access to the resources and tools they need to thrive in the 21st century. We have 3 meeting rooms and 9 computers avail

able for public use, as well as a collection of over 24,000 circulating items and lots of programs for all ages!

The Delaware City Bicentennial Committee is STILL looking for a Float Chair / Lead Coordinator to bring our Delaware City Day float from concept to the parade route!

Here is what we already have ready to go:

BASE: A generous flatbed trailer loan from Cozy Quarters Farm for which we are DEEPLY APPRECIATIVE!

BUDGET: Dedicated funds for decorating supplies

TEAM: A skeleton crew of eager volunteers (and we're happy to add more!)

What we need from YOU: someone to take the wheel on coordinating the vision, organizing our volunteer hands, and helping us pull the details together. You don't need to be a master builder! Just organized, enthusiastic, and ready to lead a fun community effort!

The Bicentennial Committee is looking for volunteers to make and man (or WOman) a float for the Delaware City Day parade in October. Be creative, crafty, and community minded. Join us!

Today, the world lost a true icon, but Dolly Parton’s legacy of music, humor, and generosity will live on forever.

Beyond her unforgettable voice and timeless songwriting, Dolly’s heart shone brightest through her Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, gifting tens of millions of books to children worldwide and putting a love for reading into young hands everywhere.

As we mourn the loss of an absolute legend, we invite the community to hold her memory close through the art she left behind. Delaware City Library has two of her records available for checkout if you'd like to revisit the music of this iconic artist.

Rest in peace, Dolly. We will always love you.
