❤️ As Juneteenth approaches, the Friends of Fort DuPont join our community in recognizing this important day of freedom, remembrance, and reflection.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and offers an opportunity to honor Black history, resilience, culture, and community.

Here in Delaware City, we encourage our followers to learn more about Delaware City-Polktown Juneteenth and support local efforts to preserve and share this important history.

🌿 Thank you to everyone who joined the Friends of Fort DuPont this past Saturday for our second nature walk of the year in partnership with Delaware State Parks!

We had 14 people come out for a warm but beautiful morning exploring the local flora and fauna found along this part of the Delaware River. From seasonal plants to wildlife habitat, there was so much to learn about the natural landscape that makes Fort DuPont and Delaware City such a special place.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, asked questions, and spent part of their Saturday with us. We are also deeply grateful to Delaware State Parks for this wonderful partnership and for helping us connect the community with the history, ecology, and beauty of Fort DuPont.

This was the second of three nature walks planned this year with State Parks. Our final walk will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, and will focus on fall foliage. We hope to see you there!

🍫 Thank you for making the final event in our inaugural Delaware in Conversation speaker series such a sweet success!

Nearly 35 people joined us last night at the Delaware City Library for Delaware’s Poisoned Candy Murders, a fascinating conversation about Delaware history, true crime, and the stories that continue to connect us to place.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful speaker for sharing this compelling piece of Delaware’s past, to everyone who came out for the program, to the Delaware City Library for hosting us, and to Delaware Humanities for making this speaker series possible.

Over the past four months, the Friends of Fort DuPont welcomed well over 100 attendees across four excellent conversations focused on Delaware history, culture, identity, and community. For our first-ever Delaware in Conversation series, we could not be more grateful.

This is exactly what the Friends of Fort DuPont is all about: activating community, creating welcoming public programs, and bringing people together through history, storytelling, and shared experiences at Fort DuPont and beyond.
