Heart Animal Rescue

Heart Animal Rescue Heart Animal Rescue is small but mighty. Our mission is to help as many animals as possible.

Heart Animal Rescue's story is truly moving and speaks to the dedication and passion of all those involved in the organization. It’s incredible how much the team has accomplished since its founding in 2016, especially considering the challenges faced by a small, foster-based rescue. The fact that the organization operates entirely on the kindness of volunteers and donors, without a central shelter

, highlights the importance of community support in saving animals' lives. The focus on fostering and education—such as the TNR program and raising awareness about Puppy Mills—shows that Heart Animal Rescue is not only about rescuing animals but also about making long-term, sustainable changes in the community. Their transparency about the challenges they face with limited resources, such as not being able to take in all stray or unwanted animals, is a reminder of how critical it is to support and grow local rescue networks. The commitment to ensuring animals have a forever home is essential, and their work to match the right animals with the right families is vital. It’s also touching to see how they prioritize the wellbeing of the animals in their care, offering supplies, vetting, and reimbursement for any expenses incurred during fostering. Heart Animal Rescue is clearly a labor of love, and their plea for more foster homes and volunteers shows how crucial it is for people to step forward and help in any way they can, whether it’s through fostering, volunteering, or donating. It’s heartwarming to know that anyone who joins in this mission is considered part of the "Heart family." This sense of community and shared purpose makes it clear that the organization isn't just about rescuing animals; it’s about creating a network of compassionate individuals who are united in making a difference.

WELCOME WALDO TO HEART
Waldo is estimated at 5 months old. He was supposedly bred to be a mini aussie, however he is currently 21 lbs and will likely grow to be 40-50 lbs.
He arrived very scared, submissive, and shut down. He would literally belly crawl to go outside and would leak urine each time he was touched. Every day has shown an improvement in confidence and seeing his playful sweet self come out. Wow is he smart! He’s learned his name already and is eager to come when called. He still instantly drops to the ground on approach and rolls on his back joyfully, but more time will yield more progress. He has been great around other dogs and enjoys playing with them. He settles so nicely in his xpen bed for naps and night time. Also enjoys a good snooze on the floor when he can’t get to his doggy bed.
He’s learning to walk on leash. Still having confidence issues in this department, but also making great progress each day.
He will be a very loyal companion with his sweet disposition!
More info will be posted on Waldo as he progresses. His vetwork will be complete on November 13th.

INTRODUCING BROCK
Brock is a 5 yr old Maltipoo. He is currently 11 lbs, but needs to lose another lb or 2.
Brock is about as sweet as they come! He gets along with other dogs and loves everyone he meets. His favorite place is snuggling with anyone that sits down. He has been sleeping in a kennel, and has been doing great going outside to do his business. There have been times he has used a p*e pad indoors however. He loves to go bye bye in the car or to go for walks. He’s ready whenever you are ready!!
He just had a dental, so his toofers are squeaky clean! He is currently on medication for an ear infection and prednisone for skin issues that we suspect were caused by prolonged flea exposure. Both issues are improving.
He would love a home where his people are around a lot, but could also do well in a home where he gets a lunchtime visit for potties and some love.
He will need to be regularly groomed, and needs to be fed his portions am & pm. No free feeding for this gobbler!!
His vetting is complete. He will need a Lepto booster in a couple weeks.
Information on applying to adopt Brock will be in the comments.

INTRODUCING AUTUMN
Autumn is a gentle, loving puppy who adores cuddles and cozy naps with her favorite people. She can be a little shy at first, but once she warms up, she's full of love and tail wags for everyone she meets. She is estimated at 13 weeks old, currently 15 lbs, and appears to be a Spaniel mix. Her mature weight could be around 40 lbs based on her current size. We cannot guarantee that though.
Autumn is currently working on her leash walking and potty training-she's a smart girl making great progress every day!
She'll make a wonderful companion for someone who can give her patience, consistency, and lots of affection.
Her vet work is done and she is ready to join her home🩷
Information on adopting Autumn will be in the comments.

INTRODUCING JOKER
Joker is estimated at 13 weeks old. He is currently 21 lbs. We aren’t even going to try guessing his breeds, but he sure is a sweet pup!! The vet thought he “could” grow to be 60 lbs or more based on his current weight, but no one really knows.
He is doing great on kennel training, leash training and potty training. An accident yet is not uncommon if he goes too long between trips outside. He’s great with dogs, cats, & kids.
He’s a wonderful pup and will be ready to join his new home after his neuter on the 13th.
Information on applying for adoption will be in the comments.

THEO UPDATE
On October 8, Theo started receiving sugar bandages. His foot has healed remarkably well. He walks fairly normal and places his foot correctly roughly 90% of the time.
Prior to the sugar bandages, his foot was continuously traumatized by just walking and playing. The Decorah Vet did a fine needle aspirate and that showed normal red and white blood cells no bacteria. The next step if no healing occurred would have been a biopsy and possibly amputation. (The last two steps have not occurred).
Theo had his foot wrapped for probably 22 hours a day. He played for approximately 2 hours in between dressing changes. Thursday October 23 concluded his sugar bandages. At this time I will leave the foot unwrapped at night and do a coban wrap during the day just to prevent further injury.
I’m not sure if anything needs to be done with the toe on the left. I think the claw is coming back but I’m not entirely sure.
He may require some sort of boot for the short term. His left rear leg muscle has improved tremendously and he doesn’t seem to drag that leg as he did before.
He will have another recheck and neuter in a couple weeks.
He is a great little guy❤️

Side note: Theo has been renamed Gummy and is going to be adopted by his foster home once he is cleared by the vet💙

Our Story

H.E.A.R.T. - Helping Every Animal Rescue Team, is a team of dedicated animal lovers that just want the best for the animals. We are small but we are mighty, and many of us have years of experience with animals. We are a foster-based rescue that relies solely on donations and adoption fees. We are always in need of supplies and of course monetary donations are always welcomed. The more donated the more animals we can help. What is unique about us....not only are the foster animals in our home part of our family but the people with H.E.A.R.T are also one big family.

H.E.A.R.T does not have a shelter. All of the animals in our care are in foster homes and get the best care. We also no longer have a dedicated phone number. If need to reach us, please email us at [email protected] or private message us on facebook. Someone will be in touch within 24 hours typically.
