Decorah Community Food Pantry Decorah food pantry serves our neighbors by providing food for those who need the help. “In accordance with federal civil rights law and U.S. mail: U.S.

Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity. Program information may be made available in languages other than English. WE ARE BLESSED ❤

A group of students representing several local churches shared their time (and great energy!) with our pantry Sunday evening.

Part of the group organized and packed "Pre-Pack" bags for pantry clients who come to our door without an appointment. The other half of the group prepared "Birthday Kits" for pantry family members celebrating a birthday. Birthday "kits" are not an item we use pantry resources on, so, this special treat is appreciated by our pantry neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

THANKS also to the adults who "tagged along" with this fun, energetic group and helped coordinate this community effort. ❤

TIME FOR US!
To date (2026) our Community Food Pantry volunteers have distributed over 235,000 pounds of food to 15,000 food insecure family members in NE Iowa.

Last night we made time for us!
Twice a year we gather socially to recognize and say "THANK YOU" to our volunteers, and our community, for making our Community Food Pantry the community it is ❤. We are Blessed.

The Depot Outlet recently awarded the Decorah Community Food Pantry a sustaining grant of $5000 which will allow Food Pantry patrons to receive Decorah Farmers’ Market Coupons to buy fruits, vegetables, and other eligible produce from local growers throughout the market season.

Depot Outlet Director Jessica O'Mara stated, “The mission of the Depot Outlet is to provide opportunities to people and planet. Our recent grant to Decorah Community Food Pantry is a great example of how we meet our mission. The Depot Outlet is grateful to help the Decorah Community Food Pantry provide these opportunities to our community.”

Farmers Market vendors appreciate the coupon donations because it enables more people to have quality locally grown fresh produce. The Farmers’ Market is open Wednesday 3 p.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 9-12 a.m. at the lower Coop parking lot.

Our Community Food Pantry is in need of 5-gallon buckets with lids (pictured) which we use in the composting portion of our program.

We DO NOT throw much away, but we rescue over 200,000 pounds of food each year and distribute another 300,000 per year so we do have some food that "goes to compost" (or livestock) and the buckets are very helpful.

Feel free to leave them at our pantry anytime (or suggest where we can pick them up!)

COMMUNITY POLICING!
While Officer Yaneff, Decorah Police Department, delivered the last of the "FILL THE SQUAD" donations that trickled in (Thank You, Community) he took time to do, what I would guess, is one of the best parts of his job - interact very positively with area youngsters.

IT TAKES A GREAT COMMUNITY - we have it! ❤
