Battle of the Bites is more than a night of great food. Every ticket, sponsorship, bid, and raffle entry helps the Decatur Education Foundation fund innovative opportunities for Decatur ISD students and staff.

That means more creative classroom projects.

🍳 Grant in Action: An Investment That Keeps Working!

A few years ago, a Decatur Education Foundation grant helped provide the Decatur High School Culinary Arts program with new equipment and tools to enhance hands-on learning for students.

Today, that equipment is still in use and helping students learn! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 Even though portions of the introductory and intermediate culinary programs are taught in a repurposed science classroom, these tools continue to help students develop essential skills—from knife techniques and baking to creativity, presentation, and real-world culinary practices.

This is the lasting impact of a DEF Grant: an investment made years ago can continue creating opportunities for students today. 💙💛

🎭 Grant in Action: Platforms for Performance!

Last year, the Decatur High School Theater Department received a DEF grant to help transform their stagecraft experience through the Platforms for Performance: Theatre Stagecraft Initiative. And now, the platforms have arrived and are ready to be put to good use!

The grant is replacing outdated, heavy, and unstable platforms with durable, lightweight, and versatile units that are safer and easier for students to maneuver. These new platforms give students a more reliable foundation for productions while providing hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used in professional theater.

This investment isn't just about new equipment—it's about giving students the opportunity to learn, create, design, and perform in a safer, more professional environment.

This is a perfect example of what a DEF Grant can make possible! 💙💛

Class of 2039 -- That's no typo! In our newest DEF campaign, which started last year, every kindergarten student at Decatur ISD received a free "Class of 2039" yard sign from the foundation during "Meet-the-Teacher" night.

In addition to being adorably cute, we also hope this campaign will inspire students and families to finish their educational journey at Decatur ISD and become proud DISD graduates!
