Make your voice heard on DeLand's new land development code!

The City invites residents, business owners, stakeholders, and community members to review the initial draft updates to the Land Development Code, which are now available on the City’s website for public review. City website link: https://www.deland.org/730/2026-Land-Development-Code-Proposed-Revi

We also encourage the community to join us next week for a series of public meetings and workshops to learn more about the proposed updates, ask questions, and provide feedback. The meeting schedule is as follows:

• Monday, May 11 at 6:00 PM – City Commission Workshop at City Hall, in Commission Chambers, 120 South Florida Avenue
• Tuesday, May 12 at 5:30 PM – Community Meeting at City Hall, in Commission Chambers, 120 South Florida Avenue
• Wednesday, May 13 at 5:00 PM – Planning Board Workshop at City Hall, in Commission Chambers, 120 South Florida Avenue
• Thursday, May 14 at 5:30 PM – Community Meeting at the Chisholm Center, 520 South Clara Avenue

The City is accepting community feedback, comments, and concerns on the initial draft update through Sunday, May 31, 2026.

This is absolutely disgusting, but all too common in our community. Bicyclists are entitled to use the street -- we give them no other options! -- and must be treated as you would any other conveyance. It is far past time for DeLand and Volusia County leaders to get serious about permanent, separated bike infrastructure. The assault on non-drivers must end.
