🌞Good morning Ops members. As most folks know this year is an election year where staying informed on the issues and where candidates sit on a particular topic is an important part of making an informed vote.

🤝Throughout the year, OPS members will be attending various "candidate meet and greet" events for that very reason, and to ensure the candidates understand our mission & goals in preserving & planning Osteen.

🤗We welcome you to join us at one such event the Heart of Florida Federated Republican Women is hosting tonight in Deland.

🗣Multiple candidates running for county council will be in attendance & answering questions.

🍔Afterwards, members will head to a local deland establishment for dinner.

👐Doors open at 5:30 & the event starts at 6pm.

🥰By leveraging Volusia Forever funds, the property known as River Bend Ranch off of Osteen Maytown Rd is now officially *Forever Preserved* 🌻

🤝Special Thanks to Danny Robins Volusia County Council District 3 who met with Osteen residents again, just a few weeks ago, to hear the concerns regarding this environmentally sensitive area and its significant impact to our town.

‼️As Councilman Robins shared - preservation is the *ultimate* ironclad legal moratorium against development that lasts in perpetuity. 🫳🎤

We look forward to continued partnership with Councilman Robins in and encourage all Volusia County residents to develop a relationship with the County Councilmen.

👏Great News Update!👏Thanks to the advocacy of Danny Robins Volusia County Council District 3 , Osteen residents, OPS members, and so many Osteen and land preservation advocates who came forward to call, email, and bear witness on Tues 5/5.

🍾The Volusia County Council voted 🙌unanimously🙌 to purchase River Bend Ranch with Volusia Forever funds, effectively preserving this land from ever being developed, in perpetuity, Forever. ♾️

😍To say our members & community are overjoyed is such an understatement.

🤗Thanks also to the land owner & family who served as a willing seller, county staff, Volusia Forever who sets the criteria, and all partners involved in the negotiations & acquisition.

🤝We are excited to partner with Councilman Robins & the organizations who will begin work on how best to utilize this important & environmentally sensitive piece of heaven on earth, for the benefit of the flora, fauna, and public 🙏
