Built in 1872, the historic Thursby House at Blue Spring State Park offers a glimpse into a transformative period in Florida's history, when steamships gave way to railroads and candlelight was replaced by electricity.

Today, the house serves as a museum featuring exhibits that bring the experiences of its residents to life. Discover this preserved piece of Florida heritage along the River of Lakes Heritage Corridor!

The more you know!

You’ll see some new signs at Lyonia Environmental Center recognizing that the Center, including the Discovery Room and its many educational exhibits, is brought to you by Volusia County property taxes.

As the non-profit Friends group for the LEC, the volunteers of West Volusia Audubon do our best to promote and support the LEC’s programs, but we couldn’t do what we do without Volusia County and its residents supporting the mission of the Lyonia Environmental Center and Preserve.

Like the sign says, thank you Volusia County residents!
