Dear Friends of Exceptional Equestrians,

We have some exciting news to share!

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Jeff Jacobe and friends, in recognition of Nancy's commitment to Exceptional Equestrians, we are launching a special $6,000 Matching Gift Challenge!

Jeff has committed $6,000 to Exceptional Equestrians and is challenging our friends and supporters to match his generosity. Our goal is to raise an additional $6,000, bringing the total to $12,000 in support of our mission of improving lives through the healing power of horses.

It’s Halloween Week!

That means costumes 👻🧛🏼‍♀️🧟‍♂️

While we absolutely encourage everyone to wear their Halloween gear this week- we do just ask that families be mindful of any costumes/accessories that our horses (and fellow friends) may find extra “spooky” 😱

Since horses are prey animals with a strong flight instinct, certain costume elements can easily startle them.

👎 What to Avoid (The "Extra Spooky" Stuff)

• Flapping or Trailing Fabrics: Long capes, cloaks, dangling strings, or wings that move in the wind can look like predators to a horse.
• Masks and Face Obscurities: Full-face masks, heavy face paint, or large hats alter your human silhouette and facial features, which can deeply confuse and frighten a horse.
• Crinkly or Noisy Materials: Inflatable costumes, loud plastics, bells, or rattling accessories can trigger a sudden flight response.
• Weapon Props: Swords, scythes, wands, or shields can look like striking objects to a horse, especially if waved around.

👍 What to Wear Instead (Horse-Approved Ideas)

• Fun Prints: Halloween-themed leggings, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or socks (skeletons, pumpkins, witches).
• Low-Profile Accessories: Headbands (like cat ears or devil horns) that don't flap or make noise.
• Equine-Safe Themes: Dressing up as a jockey, a cowboy/cowgirl, or a farmer uses gear horses are already completely used to seeing.

It’s going to be a spectacular, safe, and spooky week!

Exceptional Equestrians received a gracious donation on behalf of the North Eastern Wisconsin Miniature Horse Club this past week.

We continue to remain amazed by this wonderful community and their generosity. It is because of donations like these that we are able to keep providing our therapies to so many deserving individuals.

Ya, our outpatient team is pretty rad 😎

Some of you may have been concerned seeing Ms. Molly walking around with a large hammer last week (which… valid- never know with that one 😂).

Well this is why!

Our kiddos had so much fun this week getting to design their own pumpkins! Elsie, here, went for the bumblebee cookie cutter, which we all agreed looks more like a bat, anyway. 🦇🎃

Working with a hammer, cutter, push pins, and beads, Elsie got to practice using her fine and gross motor skills that are so crucial to her daily living- and had a blast while doing so! 💪🏼
