The Raised and Rooted home school co-op visited Osprey Point today. The kids had a great time exploring the natural playground. And it is fair to say that feeding the fish was a big hit. It is great seeing so many people enjoying Osprey Point, especially the kids. They are the big reason we took on the natural playground and sensory garden project these last several years. It is our goal to connect kids with the outdoors and hopefully build the next generation of conservationists.

Last week we finished up a large project that has been on our wish list for a long time, completing our natural playground. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters during the Give Big Green Bay fundraising campaign back in February we raised enough money to construct a water feature and rock stepping area in the natural playground, as well as finish up our climbing hill. We contracted with Van Zeeland Landscaping to design the water feature and surrounding area and they did a great job. Their crew also did a great job of constructing the features and planting native plants around it.

As you may appreciate, it takes a lot of volunteer hours to maintain the natural playground and sensory garden, particularly when it comes to w**d control. Unfortunately the w**ds tend to get ahead of us and our volunteers so we would love for others to help us throughout the summer. Let us know if you are interested in helping out. We would love your help especially in maintaining our new area while we work to keep all of the new plants alive and thriving.

In the meantime enjoy some photos we took this evening.

We apologize for the delay for this post. We want to thank everyone who attended our annual trout boil and pig roast last Sunday for their support. It was great to see so many of our friends and supporters show up despite the heat. We thought we had a lot of great donations and items on our silent and Lu e auctions and that was confirmed by the successful bids. We raised close to $10k just between the silent and live auctions. We also raised a few thousand dollars on the bucket raffles. While we are waiting to complete the final accounting tor the event, we are pleased with the results. Thank you to everyone who attended, donated an item and/or volunteered. We couldn’t do it without you.

This year's annual trout boil and pig roast is in a mere three days, Sunday July 26th. This is the chapter's annual fundraiser wherein we raise those funds that are necessary to maintain Osprey Point, a nature conservancy that is open to the public 365 days/year. The funds are also used to provide outdoor recreation opportunities to children and their families, disabled individuals, and senior citizens.

We could not do what we do without the support of our members, friends and the greater Green Bay community.

We would like to give a shout out to this year's sponsors:

We are on the home stretch in preparing for this year’s trout boil and pig roast which is this Sunday, July 26th. We finished assembling a vast majority of the baskets for our silent auction and bucket raffles. We will have close to 50 silent auction items for folks to bid on, as well as close to 50 bucket raffle items. Let’s just say that there will be plenty of items that peak everyone’s interest, young and old. Here are just a few photos of the items we will have.

We will also have several special raffles including a pellet grill, ribeye, Michael Kors purse, craft beers, and a campfire grill set.

And don’t forget our live auction wherein we will have an autographed Packers football, Packers tickets, tickets to Professional Bull Riding event, fruit trees, trout painting, and booyah party. We will also have both a mystery men and women’s bag filled with goodies, along with an Osprey carving carved by Don Labs.

Watch for more photos and info over the next few days.

You can buy tickets for dinner at the door on Sunday. We hope to see you there.

Today we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our annual Teddy Bear Hunt. While numbers were down this year, we still connected 173 kids with the outdoors today. There were a lot of smiling faces.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day. A lot of bears and stuffies were harvested and a lot of birds will be happy with all of the bird feeders that went home today. And the ice cream was a hit this year.

Thanks to all of the families that came out today and thanks to the volunteers. We could not do it without you.

We had our first night of youth archery tonight and we could not have asked for a more beautiful night at Osprey Point. We have more than 30 kids signed up this year which we are thrilled about. And to think we held out first night of youth archery exactly 11 years ago. It is fair to say that we have come a long way and built a great program.
