Yesterday, we celebrated the impact of a physician who has given so much to our St. Gianna Clinic community. 💙

If you knew Dr. Guevara, you knew the heart, compassion, and love she poured into others each day. Her dedication to her patients, her colleagues, and to a different kind of healthcare that has touched countless lives.

Dr. Guevara has been an important part of the St. Gianna story, helping bring our mission to life through faith, authentic relationships, and compassionate care. We are deeply grateful for the time, talent, and heart she has shared with our patients, our team, and our community.

As she begins a new chapter, we will certainly miss her, but we are excited to see where God leads her next. Thank you, Dr. Guevara, for all you have given to St. Gianna. We wish you continued joy, success, and many blessings in the years ahead.

This past Sunday, we celebrated the birthday of St. Gianna Beretta Molla.

But for us at St. Gianna Clinic, her birthday is more than a celebration of a beloved saint — it’s an opportunity to remember the woman whose life and witness inspired the very name of our clinic.

The Story Behind the Clinic’s Name:

Gianna Beretta Molla was born in Italy in 1922. After earning degrees in medicine and surgery, she opened a medical clinic and specialized in pediatrics. She had three children with her husband and, toward the end of the second month of her fourth pregnancy, she developed a benign tumor in her uterus. Before the required surgical operation, she pleaded with the surgeon to save the life of the child she was carrying.

A few days before the child was due, she was ready to give her life in order to save that of her child. The child, Gianna Emanuela, was born in April 1962. Despite all efforts and treatments to save both of them, on the morning of April 28, the mother died. Gianna Molla was blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1994, during the international Year of the Family.

St. Gianna Beretta Molla’s name was chosen for the Clinic after much prayer and discernment. Her witness to life and love serves as a model for physicians, health care providers and people. St. Gianna devoted herself to the Lord as a wife, mother and physician. She is a modern-day saint who embodied true faith throughout her life, family and career. She gave her life to save her fourth child, despite strong encouragement to abort her baby.

As the leaves begin to change, we’re reminded that life, too, is filled with seasons. Each one different, each one purposeful.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that there is “a time for every purpose under heaven.” Some seasons bring joy and abundance, while others may bring growth, waiting, or uncertainty. Yet through them all, God remains faithful.

We may not always understand the season we’re in, but we can trust the One who does.

May this fall be a gentle reminder to embrace where God has placed you, trust His timing, and have faith in what He is bringing forth in every season.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

For the mothers and fathers who have experienced the heartbreak of losing a child, we see you. We remember your little ones. And we hold your families close in prayer.

At St. Gianna Clinic, we know that a pregnancy doesn’t have to end in the way we hoped for it to be deeply loved. Every little life leaves an imprint, no matter how brief their time with us may have been.

Susanne, a RN and CFCP here, paired this beautiful card and original prayer as a small reminder to families who have experienced loss: your baby mattered, your grief matters, and you are not alone.

May God bring comfort to every family carrying the weight of a loss, and may He gently remind them that love does not end when a life ends. 🕊️

Heads up! 🚧

Over the weekend, our building unfortunately experienced some flooding in our lobby area. While maintenance works to get everything back in order, we’re temporarily directing patients along a safe alternate path to enter the clinic.

Don’t worry though, we’re still here, caring for you, and bringing the same warm St. Gianna welcome you know and love!
