ATTENTION - Event Change! Due to road construction by Beavercreek Community Park, the Mid-Week Fly Fishing event scheduled for 9 June has been moved to Argonne Lake in Possum Creek Metropark. The date and times remain the same. The new venue offers an opportunity to exercise our personal watercraft, so hose down your kayaks and canoes, and prepare to portage to Argonne Lake on 9 June!

Tom Arnold reminded me that work was recently done on the pond at Rosewood Park, and it has not been restocked. Consequently, the 7 April MWFF outing has been changed to Lincoln Park Pond.

2026 MVFF Tying Class Reaches Halfway Point

Fly tying classes are halfway over already. Everyone is doing such a great job! Look for flies from this year's crop of students at the auction Match 9th. I think you'll be quite happy with your purchases. I couldn't do it without the aid of our great volunteers, either. They have been a wealth of knowledge and help. A special thank you goes to John Young for his mini knots lesson and the handout! I think we all learned something from it. Jeff Warden also shared a DVD on "Bugs of the Underworld". I found it fascinating and enjoyed all the educational information about the bugs fish eat and their life cycles. I'm really looking forward to the next half of the program! Urgent message: The Mid-week Outing scheduled for 4:30 on July 17th cannot be safely held on the Great Miami river. The streamflow graph below from the USGS site shows it is already well past safe levels, and more rain is forecast for tomorrow.

Given this situation, I have decided to change the outing to Carriage Hill Park, 7891 Shull Road in Huber Heights. It is not very far from Rip Rap Road Park, and should be fishable. Kayaks are also acceptable at Carriage Hill in Cedar Lake.

At the latest Mid-Week, I met a guy who was trying to drum up some participants for the annual smallmouth contest on the Great Miami. He said there have been very few entrants so far, especially in the fly categories, it should be pretty easy to win a prize or two. You only have until the 20th to enter catches at the following website:
