The River District Association announces a leadership transition as Executive Director Tina Leone prepares to step down from her role effective Sept. 4, 2026, to pursue a new professional opportunity.

Tina joined RDA in January and has worked alongside our staff, board, merchants and community partners to set priorities for RDA's continued growth during her time with organization. We are grateful for her contributions to the River District and wish her continued success in this next chapter.

The RDA Board of Directors has launched a comprehensive executive search to identify the organization’s next leader. During this transition, our commitment to the River District remains strong. RDA’s board and staff will continue its work supporting downtown businesses, promoting the River District and creating a welcoming and vibrant downtown Danville.

There’s so much happening in the River District this week—don’t miss your chance to support local and experience the best of downtown!

🎶 Enjoy live music all around town, with performances popping up at several River District restaurants. Kick off your Thursday evening at The Bee Rooftop for “Rooftop Buzz,” featuring The League of Ordinary Gentlemen from 6–9 p.m. It's the perfect way to unwind with friends, take in the views and enjoy great tunes.

✨ On Friday, head to the Riverfront for a spectacular Drone Show lighting up the night sky! It’s a can’t-miss event for the whole family.

Plus, with Labor Day weekend ahead, there’s even more to explore and plenty of opportunities to shop, dine and discover something new in the River District.

Rain or shine, Music on Main is starting on time! 🎶

Don’t let the clouds scare you off from still enjoying Music on Main, presented by Caesars Virginia, tonight from 5-8 p.m.

In the case of rain or a storm, our musicians are moving inside our host businesses so you can come inside, listen to talented local musicians and shop in our downtown businesses!

Many of our Main Street shops are open tonight until 8 p.m. and we have some great music performances happening.

Music on Main, presented by Caesars Virginia, returns for our final summer music series this Thursday, August 27, from 5-8 p.m.!

This week, we're featuring:

• Jazz musicians Trevor Percario and Roland Burnot at Moss Mountain Outfitters (326 Main)
• Local guitarist Antony Useche at River District Artisans (411 Main)
• Local band Heart & Soul Band at Rippe's Apparel Shoes Luxury Outerwear (559 Main)

As this series has grown over the summer, we've loved added additional musicians and host businesses each week! This week may be the final Music on Main in our Summer Series, but we are excited to announce we will be extending Music on Main into the fall! Stay tuned for more details!

Come and stroll through downtown, explore our unique Main Street businesses, and enjoy live music as you shop, dine and discover everything the River District has to offer.

Many Main Street businesses will be open until 8 p.m. and many are offering special deals during our Music on Main event!

🎶 One more Music on Main is coming for this summer! 🎶

Presented by Caesars Virginia as part of our pilot Summer Music Series, Music on Main returns next Thursday, August 27, from 5-8 p.m. and this time, there will be music in EVERY block of Main Street! 🎸

Take a quick look back at weeks two and three, then come downtown next Thursday to support our local musicians and the River District businesses staying open late for Music on Main! Background music by local musician Darryl Turpin, one of our Music on Main performers from week three.

Season Four of the True North Speaker Series premiered today on our North Main Visionaries page.This series features candid conversations with strong, innovative Black women in the Dan River Region. Catch episode one, featuring Patricia Moore, now! Patricia is an educator, coach and mentor who has spent more than 35 years shaping young lives in Pittsylvania County Schools. New episodes premiere on the third Wednesday of each month (August-May), at noon.
