The Dan River Nonprofit Network offers multiple avenues of tailored capacity building opportunities for our community in order to facilitate connections and provide tools to enable nonprofit organization success in the Dan River Region (Pittsylvania County, Danville City, and Caswell County). The Network has four primary goals: to provide education and training; to become a networking hub; to become an information clearinghouse; and to create opportunities for shared resources.

The Danville Regional Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2027 B. R. Ashby, M.D. Award for Outstanding Community Service.

This $60,000 unrestricted operating grant recognizes a nonprofit making an exceptional impact by helping individuals and families overcome significant challenges in the Dan River Region.

Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits located in Danville or Pittsylvania County, VA, or Caswell County, NC.

The Dan River Nonprofit Network is offering a limited number of free registrations for local women early in their nonprofit careers to attend the We Impact Virginia Summit on October 27, 2026, in Abington, VA. Hosted by Virginia Tech, the summit features speakers, interactive sessions, and networking on economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and leadership growth.

Eligibility: Must work in the nonprofit sector serving Danville City, Pittsylvania County, Martinsville City, Henry County (VA), and/or Caswell County (NC).

Limited spots available and a short post-event reflection is required.

Sponsorship applications are due by September 25th. Selected participants will be informed shortly thereafter. Selected participants will be responsible for their own registration, and will be reimbursed for the cost of a single early-bird or standard registration. This sponsorship will be reimbursed after the event. To qualify for reimbursement you will need to show proof of attendance. Participants will be responsible for their own travel costs.
