This FREE clinic helped our neighbors put their best foot forward! 👟🚶🏽‍♀️🧦

Austin Street was proud to host the Step Forward Program, a foot clinic led by Manus Dei Health for neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Summer heat can create challenges for foot health, and people experiencing homelessness can be vulnerable to foot-related concerns due to prolonged walking and limited access to care.

In August, medical professionals visited to offer foot exams, medical cleanings, physical therapy, socks, proper footwear and custom care packages — offering essential healthcare, comfort, and mobility directly to our community.

We’re grateful to the Manus Dei Health team, medical professionals, and volunteers for choosing Austin Street as the site for this clinic, allowing them to reach as many individuals in need as possible. 💙

DID YOU KNOW? Austin Street clients can access free smartphones & mobile service! 📱🤩

A phone is more than a device; it’s a connection to job opportunities, healthcare, family, and essential resources.

Through a partnership with KreativeKueenz Kreationz, a representative is onsite weekly to help eligible Austin Street clients enroll in the Lifeline Support federal program and receive a free smartphone with mobile service through providers like Gen Mobile.

Eligible clients can receive:
📱A free Android smartphone
⌨️ Talk, text, and data service
📶Internet access to stay connected

Clients may qualify if they receive eligible government assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, SSI/SSDI, housing assistance, or meet income requirements.

Just a reminder that staying connected is an important part of finding stability 🩵

👏🏽 A round of applause for our 2026 Corporate Partner Awardees: Ashishkumar Patel of Bank of America & Maitry Shah of Charities2Love! 👏🏽

Yesterday, we celebrated the incredible partners who help make our mission possible during our Corporate Partner Appreciation Event. We presented our Hope In Action Awards to two leaders whose passion for giving back helps us bring hope to neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Maitry has helped bring thousands of sandwiches to our shelter, providing additional food for our clients. Ashish rallies Bank of America employees to support Austin Street through monthly meal service, donation sorting, and event assistance.

Transition Center Stories: Alexia's Journey 🗣️🏠

For 3 years, Alexia was experiencing homelessness: sleeping in parks, bus stops and other public spaces while trying to find a way out.

After being referred to our Transition Center, she found a safe place to stay, received help replacing her ID, birth certificate and Social Security card, and connected with mental health services to help her access medication and improve her headspace.

"I am blessed. I don't know where I would be without Austin Street Center."

Austin Street's Transition Center, launched in partnership with Dallas Area Rapid Transit and funded by North Texas Behavioral Health Authority and Communities Foundation of Texas' W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund, provides a safe alternative to jail, hospitalization or incarceration for individuals experiencing homelessness.
