ACTION NEEDED TODAY: We need as many people as possible to come to Dallas City Council in support of the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

Please meet us TODAY at 2pm at City Hall and please wear RED!

Help us show how much support there is to do the right thing for this cultural treasure.

URGENT: Join us at the city council meeting this Wednesday 6/12, 2:00pm at Dallas City Hall and wear RED.

This week, Dallas City Council is voting on a lease agreement that gives control of use the entire Kalita site to one theater group. Instead of adopting the public-funded consensus Master Plan for the site, the City is proposing that the theater group privately fund their own plan.

We believe it will institutionalize many of the problems that already exist for the Kalita Theater, and it will eliminate the possibility of any management entity that works in the interest of a larger vision.

We have so much support but we need to show it by coming in force to this Council meeting. We want action on the lease agreement deferred until a fair public planning process can take place.

To attend, just come down to Council Chambers and meet us there at 1:30 on Wednesday. More info here: https://bit.ly/2KcTPIu

Thank you to Jon Anderson for the fantastic article, and to the Oak Lawn Committee for their insightful questions at yesterday’s presentation.

The City of Dallas has left the Kalita Humphreys Theater — the city's only public Frank Lloyd Wright — to rot as it debates the building's restoration, says Jon Anderson. Can the Oak Lawn Committee help the barnacled and neglected theater?
