MISSION: VOX Femina Los Angeles (VFLA) gives women voice through the performance of quality choral literature. Diverse in culture, age, race, belief and sexual identity, we are a chorus committed to commissioning new works and raising awareness about issues that affect us as a family of women. Through music, we aim to create a world that affirms the worth and dignity of every person.

VOX Femina opens its landmark 30th season with a powerful celebration of Mother Earth through works inspired by the elements that shape her.

Featuring the world premiere of a new commission by Andrea Ramsey – composer of the “Suffrage Cantata” – and a collaboration with Lumina Treble Chorus , this concert invites you to explore and experience the beauty, strength, and resilience of our natural world.

Calling all SoCal women composers!!

In honor of our 30th anniversary, VOX is thrilled to announce VOX Nova: Young Composer Competition ❤️ 🎶

The winning composer will receive a cash prize of $1,000 AND a premiere performance of their work by VOX Femina during our March 2027 concert titled, "Her City. Her Song. Celebrating LA's Women Composers".

Our adjudication panel includes composers Jocelyn Hagen and Andrea Ramsey, our founding artistic director Dr. Iris S. Levine, and more!

VOX Nova is open to female, transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming composers residing in Southern California (Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego Counties). Must be age 18-30 at the time of submission. There is no fee to apply.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE | November 30, 2026 at 11:59pm PST

“My Anthem” by B.E. Boykin, commissioned by VOX Femina Los Angeles, uses the poetry of b. crowell to make a poignant statement about our care for the Earth and the people on it.
