Giving Design shares our warm congratulations to our client, Dr. Carolyn Rowley, on the incredible milestone of 25 years as the founder and leader of Cayenne Wellness Center.

This past Saturday, the 25th Anniversary Gala was a beautiful evening of reflection and celebration, honoring Cayenne’s impact as a statewide lifeline for individuals and families living with sickle cell disease. Here's to many more years of fierce advocacy, education, and wellness programs that continue to strengthen the health and well-being of Sickle Cell Warriors.

All donations support mental wellness programs for Sickle Cell Warriors.

Giving Tuesday is tomorrow!

Want to join me in supporting a good cause? This Giving Tuesday I'm raising money for Giving Design and your contribution will make an impact. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every donation helps. Thank you for your support.

Our mission is to connect the skills and resources of our design community with those who might not otherwise have access to design’s positive impact. We recognize that design requires experience, skill and knowledge that ordinarily comes at a high price. We acknowledge that, for many, design seems like a luxury. We believe strongly that thoughtful design improves quality of life and imparts a sense of wellbeing to those who experience it. We know that the design community is populated with generous and involved practitioners who are committed to expanding access to good design for everyone, especially for those to whom it may seem beyond reach.

On Thursday, November 6th, Giving Design hosted a Volunteer Appreciation and Celebration Mixer at the beautiful MillerKnoll showroom. This special event brought together the civic-minded architecture and design community to honor the dedication of our amazing volunteers and to celebrate the meaningful impact of Giving Design’s launch of several community benefit projects.

A heartfelt thank you to MillerKnoll for generously hosting us in such a beautiful and inspiring space, and to all of our sponsors and supporters who helped make the evening possible — including Paul Brayton Designs, Crossville Tile, Gerflor, and Stacy Nochenson for bringing delicious desserts, all contributing to a meaningful celebration.

We’re so grateful for the shared commitment of this community to help provide good design to those who might not otherwise have access. Here’s to another year of creativity, collaboration, and giving back!

Giving Design is proud to share Gary Goldberg’s contribution to AIA's 7th year of Purposeful, "Prevention, Attention, and Intervention: Linking Modalities of Behavioral Health." Giving Design is continually impressed by Gary’s sustained leadership in guiding Purposeful's founding principles and ongoing mission.

AIA Purposeful 2025 challenged conventional approaches to behavioral healthcare facilities. Speakers invited attendees to reimagine architecture and design strategies that decrease stigma and isolation, while increasing patient accessibility and dignity, family involvement, and community integration.

Giving Design is proud of everyone putting work into the embrace of adaptable, resilient models for behavioral healthcare facilities—especially needed during this time of public health cuts and rapid expansion of needs.

Giving Design’s phenomenal success, and the value we bring to those we serve, is built on the contributions of time and energy by our amazing volunteers. Today we shine a spotlight on Juan Villarreal, and the huge benefit his architectural skills and talents have made in our work with the non-profit service organization, SSG. Juan has taken on a key role in Giving Design’s project team as we work to help SSG bring much-needed behavioral health care services to our community. Thank you, Juan!

We're delighted to be working with Special Services for Groups (SSG). Last week Governor Newsom announced that SSG was awarded grants under California's Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP). Giving Design has been providing preliminary design services to help SSG apply for funding, and prepare them to proceed swiftly in renovating buildings in the City of Los Angeles to become Mental Health Rehabilitation Centers. We're excited to be a part of this team to deliver much-needed care to our community!
