Caramel apples are back with two new flavors: Strawberry Shortcake and Biscoff Cookie. You will also find caramel pretzels,bourbon balls, pecan turtles, chocolate Oreos, and chocolate ghost lollipops 👻

Scared to melt chocolate?
Don’t be. I love using compound chocolate for dipping treats. It’s beginner friendly and you don’t have to temper it. Just melt it low and slow. That’s the key.
I will tell you ALL about chocolate and demonstrate my favorite chocolate dipped treats at my last workshop of the year!

You asked me to slow it down… so here it is! 🤎🍫

Last week, I shared a time-lapse of me piping this classic European chocolate design, and so many of you wanted a closer look at how it’s done.

I learned this technique in culinary school 30 years ago, and I’m still using it today in my micro bakery.

Today’s corporate order was the perfect reminder that sometimes the most timeless techniques are the ones worth keeping. No fancy equipment needed — just melted chocolate, a little practice, and a steady hand. I use compound chocolate melts from my local cake and candy supply store.

Whether you’re a fellow cottage baker, a chocolate lover, or someone who enjoys learning a new skill, I hope this slowed-down tutorial helps you give it a try!

Callling all local caramel lovers! This month is for YOU! I am bringing treats to pop-ups and teaching hands-on workshops.
This Saturday, Oct. 3rd, we will be at Crestwood Mercantile at 10 until 2 (or sell out) with a variety of caramel apples, including a new flavor, pecan turtle. We will also have caramel pretzels, dipped Oreos, and turtles.
Want to learn how to make some yummy chocolate dipped caramel treats? I still have a few seats available for my workshop on Saturday, October 10th, 3-5pm. Comment “LOOP” for a link to grab your seat.

It’s been almost 30 years since I have gotten my baking and pastry degree. To this day, I still use techniques that I learned from my mentors to make professional looking treats. This is one of my favorite designs.
It’s classic and timeless.

Surprise! I made caramel apples EARLY since the weather has cooled a bit! These will be at the last farmers market on
Friday, Sept 25th, 4-8 pm, Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood. (Free Admission/Fall Plant Sale/Live Music/Food Truck)
I’m bringing:
CARAMEL APPLES (Apple Pie and Oreo Flavors)
PIE POPS (Cherry, Chocolate Cherry, Apple, Caramel Apples, and Walnut Pecan Chip)
Time to stock up on pie pops as this is IT! Because of the fall plant sale, it will be busy so come as early as you can to get the best selection. We hope to see you there! -Jennifer

Making all of these treats at home means buying bulk nuts, bags of specialty caramels, melting chocolates, packaging, and then spending hours scrubbing sticky pots.

I am hosting a local hands-on caramel workshop on Saturday, October 10th from 3 to 5 pm. Every ingredient is prepped and waiting for you when you walk in.

You will learn how to work with shelf-stable caramel products, melt and dip chocolate, and make pecan turtles, cashew turtles, two caramel pretzel variations, and caramel chocolate marshmallow treats. Plus a couple of bonus ways to use caramel on treats right out of the oven. You make everything hands-on and take a whole box home.

Molded coffee cup lids, chocolate roses, dipped berries, and custom treat boxes.

Working with silicone molds takes patience (and a lot of tapping) to get every single detail to release without breaking petals or rims. But seeing the finished sets come together makes every minute worth it.

My chocolate workshop always sells out in the spring and many of you have asked for more opportunities for hands-on learning. Great news! I will be hosting two different classes this fall at Wilder’s Cafe in Crestwood. Price is $59 per student, and is appropriate for beginners ages 12 and up.

“Caramel Treats” Saturday, October 10th, 3-5 pm. You will learn how to make and take home two different caramel pretzel variations, two different nut turtle variations, and caramel marshmallow treats. We will melt chocolate and use my favorite shelf-stable caramel products.
(Please note that this is different from the caramel used for my apples. That class may be offered next year, if there’s interest, intermediate level.)

“Chocolate-Dipped Treats” Saturday, November 7th, 3-5 pm. In this class, you will learn how to melt chocolate and decorate treats. There will be cookies, riced cereal treats, pretzels, marshmallows, and chocolate bark variations. You will get my secrets to make edible gifts look professional. Classes will be kept small and will most likely sell out. Grab a friend and come learn how to make yummy treats! I will provide all materials at the workshop.
