Over the weekend, our Navigators & Adventures (middle & high school boys) worked on their swimming skills as they strive to achieve their aquatics badge. Thank you to the YMCA at Norton Commons for hosting us and providiing top-notch instruction!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day from Trail Life USA! Thank you for giving and sacrificing to create an environment free enough to Let Boys Be Boys and structured enough to grow courageous young men who honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure.

At a recent meeting, our Navigators & Adventurers (middle & high schoolers) worked on "Our Flag" badge requirements. With members of the LMPD Honor Guard, they learned how to conduct a color guard ceremony along with customs and courtesies required of those formally bearing the American flag.

Special thanks to the Honor Guard from the Louisville Metro Police Department for coming and teaching us these important lessons!

Last month, Trailmen from our Mountain Lion patrol (4th & 5th graders) gathered at a local farm to learn about woodtools and fire safety, earning their Woodsman and Fireguard cards.

For the Fireguard card, Trailmen learn and can demonstrate fire management and fire safety skills. By earning this card the Trailman has earned the privilege and now holds the responsibility of being able to start, maintain, and properly extinguish patrol or Troop campfires.

Mountain Lion Trailmen also earn the Woodsman Card once they have learned and can demonstrate knife handling and blade-safety techniques. By earning this card the Trailman has earned the privilege of being able to carry and use his own pocket knife at patrol or Troop events.

Thanks to our Navigator patrol who helped teach their fellow Trailmen these skills!

A few weeks ago, our Navigators & Adventurers (middle & high school trailmen) hosted a campout in Shepherdsville, KY with the Louisville Metro Police Activities League (PAL). The campout was intended to show the PAL participants how to camp, sharing the skills we've learned at Trail Life with other youth in our community. We had a great time together by the campfire, playing field games, and even hanging out with goats!
