🌈 RIP Sweet Boy 🌈Our hearts are broken that this injured angel could not be saved, but we are grateful that before he passed peacefully, he knew kindness, gentle hands, and love. 💗🙏
This post is really about all of the wonderful people who came together to help "Sweet Boy."
He appeared this afternoon at Wendy Thibodeaux's carport, barely clinging to life. Her compassionate daughter, Sylvie Godsey, immediately put out an emergency plea on Facebook, hoping a rescue would step in.
Thankfully, supporters tagged us, and our friend Tori Hollier reached out. Tori is already overwhelmed helping many other deserving souls and simply couldn't take on another, but she made sure his plea didn't go unheard.
We cannot begin to express our gratitude to Wendy, her husband, and Sylvie for gently loading this precious boy into the car and making the drive to Crowley Veterinary Hospital while talking to him and promising him he was loved. So many of us have made that heartbreaking ride, sick to our stomachs, praying they can just hold on long enough. Thank you for giving him that gift.
And thank you to Dr. Cobbs and her incredible team, who had already endured a very long day caring for critically ill dogs, yet graciously agreed to stay late to give Sweet Boy every chance.
Before even assessing his injuries, they made sure pain medication was on board so he would not suffer. Sadly, the damage was not only severe, but old. Infection had already consumed much of his mouth, tongue, and jaw, and he had suffered a devastating injury to the side of his head. Surrounded by compassionate hands, gentle voices, and loving hearts, Sweet Boy was petted and comforted as he peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈
We will entrust this precious soul to our dear friend Catherine at Pet Passages - Lafayette, La, who provides love and dignity to these beloved animals, even in their final journey. 🌈
And we'll place a tag for Sweet Boy on our Rainbow Bridge Lacombe, where we hope one day we'll all see him smiling again.
