📣A promise kept for Joel 💗Today was Holly's annual wellness day with our friends over at Three Rivers Animal Hospital.

This sweet girl received her annual exam, her ProHeart 12 injection, and treatment for an ear issue that needed some attention—all thanks to Dr. Beth and the compassionate team that has helped care for her for years.

Many of you may remember Holly and her owner, Joel.

We first met Joel during his courageous battle with stage 4 cancer. For more than four years, Scott's Wish had the privilege of helping Joel and Holly. As his illness progressed, caring for Holly became increasingly difficult, and we were honored to help shoulder some of that burden.

When Joel passed away in early 2025, our focus turned to Holly and Joel's devoted mother, Peggy. While grieving the loss of her son, Peggy took on the care of his beloved pup.

Living on a limited income, she continues to give Holly a wonderful life, complete with home-cooked meals, and we're proud to help ensure she receives the veterinary care she needs.

A special thank you to Dr. Beth, Amanda, and the entire team for always taking such wonderful care of Holly. Their kindness and compassion have been part of this journey from the very beginning.

We don't often share stories like this, but Holly is a reminder that our mission extends beyond emergencies and rescues. Sometimes it's about honoring a promise, supporting a family through loss, and making sure a beloved companion continues to receive the care she deserves.

Joel loved this little dog beyond measure, and we hope he'd find comfort in knowing she is still safe, still loved, and still being looked after.

Until the day they meet again at the Rainbow Bridge, we'll continue doing our part. 🌈🐾

📣After a very rainy (and unfortunately unsuccessful) night trying to catch Faith's son near the truck stop in Elton last night by ACO Nichole, Lisa, and Amanda... the dynamic duo of Tori Hollier and Ashleigh Chiasson were at it this afternoon with a secret weapon in tow! They picked up Faith from LVCC and hoped her son would jump right in.

But with the rain, they could never spot him, and had to eventually leave and get momma Faith over to Rice City in Crowley.

Faith has been under the care of Dr. Dusty and the team at LVCC since she was picked up the other night, although the wounds look horrific and are infected, with daily wound care and bandage changes for the next 1-2 weeks she will be okay! ❤

We'll keep everyone updated on the progress!

📣THURS. UPDATE! Alayna, the compassionate gal who has been trying to find this poor pup help gave us an update earlier.

They are trying to feed and gain her trust, she's very skittish and frightened. Thankfully Tangi Humane has agreed to take her under their wing and we have agreed to pay for her veterinary care at Companion Animal Hospital in Hammond!

We'll keep you updated when she is secure! Thank you, Alayna, for not turning a blind eye! 💗

📣Hope just headed home for the weekend with her wonderful finder Raven! Boy, it took a couple scrubbings with Dawn soap before they could get the motor oil off, but Raven said she looks like a completely different dog! 💗

Hope hit the jackpot when her owner abandoned her at a truck stop last week! She now has a future filled with a loving family out of state who is desperate to adopt her! 😱

Thanks to the best supporters we could immediately say yes to helping her when Raven texted late in the day last week. We're grateful to Dr. Cobbs and her team at Crowley Veterinary Hospital for staying late for her. 💗

We were able to get her vaccinated, dewormed, started on doxy, bathed, antibiotics, Proheart to make sure no new heartworms and Bravecto for flea and ticks.

She'll head back to get spayed on Tuesday and then we'll have a exciting announcement about her new family who saw her on Reddit thanks to our dear volunteer Emily Ellsworth!

We are so grateful to everyone for saving this girl!

📣Ruh roh... it looks like Apache has fallen head over paws for his surgeon! 😍 But he'll have to get in line because it seems all of our furry patients adore Dr. Julia.

We're so grateful to Dr. Coutin and her incredible team at Veterinary Specialists Of Greater New Orleans for always taking such special care of the injured angels we send their way.

When longtime rescuers Kelly Stonicher, Amanda Campbell, and Terri Ancelet reached out for help, we couldn't say no. These compassionate gals have worked together for years to save animals in need, and when Apache was found injured in a trailer park after witnesses reported he had been abused, we were fortunate to be in a position to step up.

A special thank you goes to Dr. Cobbs and her team at Crowley Veterinary Hospital for saying "yes" late in the day last week and getting this sweet boy comfortable and out of pain with his badly broken leg. 💗

And we have to give a shout-out to Furball Crowley for jumping in when Kelly asked for support. Saving lives truly takes a village—and sometimes that village helps save a leg, too! 💗

Apache has a road to recovery ahead of him, but he's already stealing hearts everywhere he goes. We'll keep you posted on his progress! ❤

📣WED. PM UPDATE: After a few hours in the pouring rain, they were unsuccessful at catching the other dog - efforts will resume today.

5:00pm When ACO Nichole from Jennings (Elton is not her jurisdiction) got the text saying the dog was spotted at Mr. T's in Elton and had almost been hit twice by cars, she and Kiko's wonderful foster Lisa went over armed with fried chicken, hot dogs, but he turned his nose up at Vienna sausages.

The poor pup (turns out he is the child of the injured dog) was too skittish in the end, and the rain didn't help, but it was close. He went happy and with a full stomach under a home and fell asleep.

Volunteer Amanda Campbell drove over in hopes of picking him up after FurBall founder Tori had been trying to find him help, thank you both for staying on this!

Today - Thursday - Tori is headed to LVCC to pick up Momma (her injuries are old and will just need special wound care) and take her to Elton in hopes this boy will get in the car.

We'll keep you posted on the rescue!! 🙏🙏
--------------------------------------------

💔RESCUE/FOSTER NEEDED! Finders took injured dog to LVCC and said they didn't see second dog. FurBall Crowley is asking people to try and locate the second dog and they will take of the vetting too.
---------------------------------------------
We received this message from one of our supporters last night and we are not anywhere near Elton, LA. If anyone is willing to help, Mardi Paws will gladly get them to the vet asap!

Please message us.

📣"Hey, I'm awake and ready to eat" 💗Apache's wide awake after surgery to repair his leg today, thanks Olivia for sending his precious pic! 😍

We are so grateful to Dr. Julia Coutin and the team over at Veterinary Specialists Of Greater New Orleans, Dr. Julia reported everything went great although the fracture was older than they always hope for. And for the lagniappe, she took care of his neuter. Although we'll wait a bit to tell him. 😉

When we were called on for help from longtime rescuers - Kelly Stonicher, Amanda Campbell, and Terri Ancelet - we couldn't say no. 😍

They've been working together for some time to save animals and when Apache was found injured in a trailer park after people witnessed him being abused, we were in a position to step up!

Thanks to Dr. Cobbs and her team for saying "yes" so late in the day last week and getting him out of pain. 💗

And we have to give a shout out to Furball Crowley for stepping up when Kelly asked for some support - It takes a village saving these angels, and their legs! 💗

We'll keep you posted on Apache!

📣Cuteness overload! 😱Precious pup Kiko who had surgery on BOTH of his hips just over a week ago is thriving under his wonderful foster mom Lisa's care! 😍

Lisa reports he knows "sit" and he sits automatically when he comes in from pottying to get his treat and put his cone back on. But Lisa admits "no" is a work in progress and he talks back a lot! 😂

And the best part... Lisa said he gets a little bored in his kennel so each evening they watch animal shows together on the TV, he is enthralled!!💗😆💗

Found dumped over a month ago, broken and unable to move, we're grateful to Dr. John at Capital Area Veterinary Specialists for working his magic on both of Kiko’s hips.

Found on Green Oak Road in rural Kinder, suffering from pelvic and leg fractures, Kiko’s future once came down to three difficult options: a wheelchair, euthanasia, or complex surgery.

As if that wasn’t enough, this sweet boy also contracted deadly parvo, which delayed his surgery. He pulled through thanks to the dedicated team at Rice City Animal Hospital, and we’re grateful to ACO Nichole for stepping up to help the gals at ONE TINY SEED Rescue.

After surgery he went home with his wonderful foster, Lisa, who’s making sure he gets just the right amount of exercise and care during recovery. 💖

He’s truly a little miracle boy, and we’ll keep you posted on his progress.

📣Apache is patiently waiting for his big day tomorrow.

Thanks to Amanda Campbell, this big boy made the trip to Metairie today, where he'll undergo surgery tomorrow to have his broken leg plated and repaired by his dear doctor, board-certified surgeon Dr. Julia Coutin at Veterinary Specialists Of Greater New Orleans.

Amanda graciously offered to make the drive from Crowley, and we're incredibly grateful. 😍

It was Apache's lucky day last week when Kelly Stonicher received a heartbreaking message about a dog in need, reportedly being abused in a trailer park.

A huge thank you to Dr. Cobbs and the team at Crowley Veterinary Hospital for answering the call at closing time and got right to work to manage his pain.

But Apache needed orthopedic surgery. After keeping him comfortable over the weekend, he headed out today to give him the best chance at a future free from pain.

We'll keep you updated on his surgery.
