Our Rotary Club meeting was packed yesterday with goodies. You missed a treat if you were not in attendance!

We are a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity Northshore West and joining us at our meeting to give an update and receiving the funds distribution was Leighanne Weeks.

Our guest speaker was Russell Richardson with the St. Tammany Economic Development Corporation to give an update on all things happening in our market from an economic development standpoint. It is exciting to hear what is in store for the future in our area!

The funds distributed were raised by our annual Quack-A-Falaya Duck Race. Thank you to all members of our community who support our event and the local nonprofits we support through your generous giving!

🎄 Thank you to The Lake House, a Catering Partner of Feeding the Needy 2026!

Their team provides catering for our annual fundraising luncheon, and their generous discounted pricing helps keep event costs down so the funds raised can go further in supporting holiday food packages for local families.

For children who depend on meals during the school week, that support matters—because when school closes for the holidays, the need for food doesn’t.

The Covington Rotary Foundation is grateful to The Lakehouse for bringing their time, talent, and hospitality to our luncheon and supporting our mission to care for Northshore neighbors.

Please join us in thanking their team for their continued generosity! 💙

🎄 One food package can bring a family comfort well beyond Christmas dinner.

Feeding the Needy provides holiday food packages that help local children and families prepare meals over multiple days of the school break.

For children who depend on meals during the school week, that support matters—because when school closes for the holidays, the need for food doesn’t.

A $50 donation purchases one holiday food package for a local family. Food donations, financial support, and volunteer service come together to make those packages possible.

This year’s distribution will take place Saturday, December 19. The work starts well before that morning, as our community helps secure the food, resources, and volunteers needed.

Whether you give personally, invite your workplace to participate, or share our mission with a friend, you can help bring nourishment and Christmas cheer to a Northshore family. 💙

💙 A strong community can still have neighbors struggling to afford the basics.

The 2026 ALICE update, using 2024 household data, shows that 40% of households in St. Tammany Parish, 50% in Tangipahoa Parish, and 60% in Washington Parish earned less than the estimated cost of basic necessities. These figures include households in poverty and working households whose income still falls short.

For families already balancing groceries, housing, transportation, and childcare, the holiday school break can add another challenge when access to regular school meals pauses.

Feeding the Needy helps provide holiday food packages for local children and families across the Northshore, offering support over multiple days of the break.

A $50 donation purchases one holiday food package for a local family. Sharing this post can help connect another neighbor or business with the opportunity to give.

🎄 Honoring a Legacy of Service: Baldwin Subaru

For more than 23 years, Baldwin Subaru and John Baldwin have helped keep Feeding the Needy moving forward with one purpose at its heart: helping ensure no child goes without food during the holidays.

In 2025, their generosity provided 200 holiday food packages for local families. Over the years, their support has helped provide thousands of packages for children and families across the Northshore.

Beyond those packages is a lasting legacy of leadership and service—bringing volunteers, businesses, and neighbors together to care for our community.

As we prepare for Feeding the Needy 2026, the Covington Rotary Foundation looks back with gratitude on Baldwin Subaru’s past sponsorship and John Baldwin’s dedication to this mission.

Please join us in thanking Baldwin Subaru and John Baldwin for more than two decades of generosity and the difference they have made for our neighbors! 💙
