Gerry has some follow up questions about those of you who were born at one of the local Maternity/Birthing Homes.
Anyone who has responded to the previous thread, and were born or mention someone who was born at one of the maternity homes, listed below, are willing to give the date, name at birth and doctor who delivered you? Also, if you have a copy of your original birth certificate, what is listed for place of birth. You can message the society through Facebook or email us at [email protected]

Funk maternity home operated 12/7/1950-4/21/1951, may have been operated by Mrs. William Funk (if someone knows more information or where home was please pass on.) address in 1950 was South 6th of Mr. William Funk, not sure of location, any information or pictures would be appreciated
Allen maternity home open 1949-1950 by Mrs. Melvin ( Nellie) Allen possibly 1820 S. 11th address. Any information would be appreciated or pictures.
Smith maternity hospital/ home 1947-1949 operated by Mrs. W. E. “ Bernice” Smith, RN at 10th and Van Buren. It changed hands to Mrs. Della Owens October 15, 1948. She would continue the same name. Any information would be appreciated or pictures.
Denham maternity home started when Mrs Denham who had worked for Mrs. Butler opened her own in 1942-1946. She closed and went on to become a Licensed practical nurse and returned to work at Cottage Grove hospital when it opened in 1951.Any information would be appreciated or pictures.
McFarland maternity home, first one in Cottage Grove at I Street and Ash Avenue, Victorian home still lived in. Lena Stockwell Veatch McFarland operated the first of the town's maternity homes from her personal residence at the corner of Ash and I streets. The first recorded birth by name was in 1934 and the last birth found was July 26, 1945. Any information would be appreciated or pictures.
Butler maternity home, 136 N. 8th Street, still standing but in a jungle. Operated earliest recorded birth 1939-1951. Last maternity home to close when the CG hospital opened. Mostly, the most births. Any information would be appreciated or pictures.
The Booher maternity home is still there and lived in. The address is 3033 Umpqua Highway 99, Drain, Oregon. The Booher Maternity Home in Drain, Oregon, was located in a building that later became known as the Darnell place, a former doctor's office, and was a significant part of Drain's local history. A number of Cottage Grove area residents reported born there. House is still lived in and well kept. Any information would be appreciated or pictures.
