We are the Orange County Model Engineers, a 501c3 non-profit that owns and operates the Goathill Junction Railroad in Costa Mesa’s Fairview Park. We are an all-volunteer organization that gives free rides to the public every 3rd weekend of the month from 10am-3:30pm, weather permitting. Our railroad runs on donations and your support is greatly appreciated. We also offer birthday parties! For mor

Information for the live steamer: Goathill Junction is a 7 1/2in gauge railroad built to IBLS standards. We love hosting visiting live steamers and we hold two yearly meets where guests from other railroads can bring their own equipment to run on our railroad. We have an air operated hoist from loading/unloading, steaming bays with air and water connections, and a fun route through the nature park. 🚂 Free train rides are coming up in September! The Goathill Junction trains will next be running for FREE on September 19th & 20th, 10am to 3:30pm. Plus we have a special treat this month!

Our trains take you on a fun 15 minute trip through Fairview Nature Park. You’ll go over and under the trestle bridge, past the water tower and on a scenic bluff looking out over OC.

🚞 Here’s the special treat! The Toy Train Operating Society - Southern Pacific Division will be exhibiting some model train layouts on the Saturday. They will be exhibiting from 10am to 2pm on the 19th. Be sure to check it out!

Please note passengers must be at least 31in tall to ride. See you at the station!

Welcome Home Hiawatha!

Hiawatha #250 has returned to Goathill Junction and Orange County after an incredible weekend in North Carolina. The engine was a part of the America 250 Locomotive Celebration hosted by N.C. Transportation Museum

🚞 A huge THANK YOU goes out to the amazing NCTM staff and visitors for welcoming us to North Carolina. And thank you to the OCME members and friends who made the journey possible.

Big News! Hiawatha #250 is going cross country to exhibit at the America 250 Locomotive Celebration! OCME members Wilmer and Zach have volunteered to drive the engine all the way from Goathill Junction to the N.C. Transportation Museum for the event on August 28th to 30th. This is the same event which full size locomotives from across the country are traveling to as we speak!

🚂 The 7.5in gauge 4-6-2 locomotive has been incredibly popular since its entry into passenger service in July. The engine transformed into Hiawatha #250 after a month long rebuild and repaint led by OCME members Mark and Declan.

We’re so very thankful to NCTM for allowing us to display the Hiawatha on the national railroading stage. And we look forward to seeing many railroad fans there and talking about OCME and our awesome live steam hobby!
