🦇 Did you know? Bats are some of the world’s most important pollinators!
While most people think of bees and butterflies, over 500 species of plants rely on bats for pollination. As nectar-feeding bats visit flowers at night, they carry pollen from bloom to bloom, helping plants produce fruits and seeds.
Some amazing examples include:
🥃 Agave – The plant used to make tequila and mezcal relies on nectar-feeding bats for pollination in the wild.
🍌 Wild bananas – Several wild banana species depend on bats to transfer pollen between flowers.
By protecting bats, we’re also protecting the plants and the ecosystems that depend on them.
