For 50 years, California's Coastal Management Program has given our state the leverage to say no to offshore oil, pipelines, and federal overreach on our coast.

Now, the Trump administration is singling us out with a rigged review to take over our coast for a single interest — Big Oil.

These August hearings are our chance to speak out. Register, show up, and tell NOAA: California's coast belongs to Californians. Visit our Linktree for full meeting details.

Kids Ocean Day OC is around the corner, and we can't wait!

This annual celebration brings over 1,000 OC elementary school students to the beach for a day they'll never forget. It's part field trip, part call-to-action, and all about building a connection to our ocean.

Through hands-on activities, students learn how pollution impacts our beaches and waterways. More importantly, they see how their individual actions can make a real difference.

Sponsored by , Kids Ocean Day events are hosted throughout the state by different organizations. OC Coastkeeper has proudly coordinated Kids Ocean Day OC since 2008.

We simply could not run our Living Shorelines programs without the help of our amazing restaurant partners! 👏

Shells for Shorelines is an oyster recycling program that takes donated oyster shells from restaurants and reuses them to grow native oyster populations in Southern California. Repurposing oyster shells is a long-standing restoration practice rooted in Indigenous coastal stewardship.

This initiative helps reduce food waste, lower program costs, and engage the local community in marine science projects.

We believe everyone should have access to California's beautiful coastline. But for many, access isn't guaranteed.

One of the biggest barriers is physical. Our coastline can be difficult to navigate, especially for people with disabilities, reduced mobility, or older adults. Long stretches of sand, uneven terrain, and rocky shorelines can limit who gets to fully experience the coast. At the same time, we have a responsibility to protect these natural spaces and avoid permanent alterations.

Temporary accessibility equipment, such as beach wheelchairs, walkers, access mats, and adaptive kayaks, can make a meaningful difference. These tools help people connect with the coast in ways that wouldn't otherwise be possible, without disrupting the landscape.

Through our Beach and Coast Accessibility Program, in partnership with the California State Coastal Conservancy, we provide grants to California tribes, nonprofits, and public agencies. These funds go directly toward purchasing, maintaining, and promoting accessibility equipment.

This is just one way we're working to make the coast more accessible, and we know there's more to do. If you have ideas for how we can expand this work or want to support it, we'd love to connect. 🧡
