We had a great time at Santa Anita Park!
We were honored to have the 9th race called out as "Zonta International in Support of Young Women" and we enjoyed watching the action from a box right at the finish line. Not sure any of us made any $, but we enjoyed betting, dining and visiting. As our race concluded, we were escorted to the Winner's Circle. What fun! Thanks to our host Rick Bakker and to our member Lisa Cain who arranged our fun day!

Its about time! Thank you to everyone who continued to push and advocate to make this a reality ❤️

📢 California is now the 18th U.S. state to ban child marriage with no exceptions.

A special shoutout to our Zonta clubs across California that have worked to raise awareness about child marriage and advocate for stronger protections for children. 🧡

Our monthly Business Meeting recapping the International Convention in Vancouver in July. Lots of fun and networking with international Zontians!

Planning out our services projects for the year, reviewing organizational changes to international, and so much more. Thank you Bonny for a delicious dinner! 😋

As the new biennium starts, we love President Fernanda Gallo Freschi's moto...

S.H.A.R.E.– Sustainability and Human Rights through Accountability, Respect and Empowerment

This motto reflects the simple idea that lasting change starts with how we act within our own community. When we lead with accountability, respect one another and empower others, we strengthen Zonta and increase our collective impact. S.H.A.R.E. is also about transparency, collaboration and community. By embracing S.H.A.R.E., we will take action through our advocacy, projects, programs and initiatives to continue strengthening our organization and give a bolder voice to the women and girls we serve.

It was Memorial Day weekend but that didnt stop the Zonta cooks from cooking up trays of taco casserole (including a vegetarian version) and rhubarb crisp for the women of WISEPlace and the teens at Casa Youth Shelter! Cooks included Melissa Figge, Hilary Kaye, Gwen Black and Karen Stuart.

Yep, another Sunday at the Figge house cooking for the women of Wise Place and the teens at the Casa Youth Shelter.
What was on the menu? Make your own burritos, with all the fixings, and homemade peanut butter cookies.
Zonta cooks were Melissa Figge, Becky Larsen, Karen Stuart, Bonny Schumacher and Hilary Kaye.
