Estancia Aquatics Boosters is community focused and we both welcome and appreciate the support we receive from across the entire Newport-Mesa area, including yours! Our specific purpose is to promote and support the students, coaches, and administrators of Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s Estancia High School water polo teams, swim teams, and aquatic facilities by engaging in charitable, civ
ic, and educational activities that contribute to the programs by creating an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy of the school community in Costa Mesa, California. We support in-season Boys Water Polo (Fall), Girls Water Polo (Winter), Boys Swim (Spring) and Girls Swim (Spring) during the school year. This includes in-pool gear, out-of-pool uniforms, program equipment with a multi-year lifetime, tournament fees, team food, team banquets, team awards and other areas too. We also support limited pre-season programs for both Water Polo and Swim, including the off-season coaching fees that they require. These low cost programs are open to the general public as we offer them as a community service. They typically take place for 5-6 weeks, mostly in July and August. They run 8-10 hours per week and include conditioning, teaching, training, scrimmages, games, skills enhancement, and team-building. Scholarships are available to those in financial need. While desirable, these Summer programs are optional and have no merit with regards to playing on the in-season team during the school year. We hope these programs expose more youth to the fantanstic and fun team sport of Water Polo! We are unique in that more than 50% of our annual budget comes from voluntary fundraising events ranging from Fireworks sales to Pancake Breakfasts events and Snack Bar sales. This allows us to offer a low cost program to those who are in a position to provide full voluntary donations or financial aid and scholarships to those who are not in a position to provide full voluntary donations. While California's Constitution has guaranteed since 1879 that "public schools are free" for both curricular and extracurricular activities, organizations like Estancia Aquatics Boosters are legally allowed to operate optional, voluntary fundraisers and request optional, recommended voluntary donations as "quality programs cost extra money". Participation in any N-MUSD operated program during the school year is not in any way conditional or prerequisite on participating in our optional, voluntary fundraisers or providing our optional, recommended voluntary donations. Recommended voluntary donations are simply that, and a voluntary donation in any amount is acceptable and appreciated. All personal information pertaining to fundraising and voluntary donations is kept confidential and no public disclosures are made. The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is extremely generous with its financial support for academic, athletic, and other extracurricular activities, however our Aquatics Programs and Facilities greatly benefit from the additional support that we provide to them via our fundraising, voluntary donations, and most importantly volunteering our time and effort!
