What People Don’t See Behind the Giving ❤️🎄
I think sometimes people don’t realize how much time, patience, stress, hard work, and money go into organizations like Coshocton County Miracle on Wheels, the Coshocton County Firefighters Toy Chest, and the Salvation Army.
People see the donations, the toys, the bicycles, and the smiles on children’s faces. But what they don’t always see is the countless hours spent organizing, fundraising, making phone calls, collecting donations, sorting items, planning events, and trying to make sure there is enough for every family who needs help.
They don’t see the stress of wondering if there will be enough money, enough donations, or enough volunteers to make everything happen. They don’t see the personal sacrifices people make, the time taken away from their own families, or the money and resources that sometimes come out of their own pockets just to help someone else.
These organizations work hard to bring hope, happiness, and a little relief to families who are struggling. They do it because they care about their community and want children to experience the magic of Christmas, regardless of their family’s financial situation.
But here is the hard part: people abuse the system. When people take advantage of programs meant for those who genuinely need help, it hurts more than just the organization. It takes away resources, time, and opportunities from families who truly depend on that help. It also puts an unfair burden on the volunteers and donors who work so hard to make these programs possible.
There is a difference between needing help and taking advantage of kindness. There is a difference between accepting a helping hand when you need it and abusing a system that was created to help others.
We should never make people feel ashamed for needing help. Life happens, families struggle, and sometimes people need a little extra support. That is exactly why these organizations exist. But we also need to remember that these programs cannot continue to help people if their generosity is taken for granted.
Before judging these organizations, complaining about their rules, or assuming that everything is easy, take a moment to think about what goes on behind the scenes. These are people giving their time, energy, hearts, and sometimes their own money to make a difference.
Kindness should never be mistaken for an obligation. Generosity should never be treated as an entitlement. And helping others should never mean being taken advantage of.
Please support the organizations that support our community. Donate when you can, volunteer when you can, spread the word, and most importantly, be honest and respectful when accepting help.
Coshocton County is blessed to have people who care enough to keep these programs going. Let's appreciate them, protect these resources, and make sure the help reaches the families who truly need it.
❤️ A little gratitude, honesty, and compassion can go a long way. ❤️
