⚠️ IMPORTANT MARKET BROILER FEED UPDATE ⚠️
We want to make our market broiler exhibitors aware of an issue we have identified with Ge**er’s Turkey Starter feed.
After receiving reports of birds experiencing leg and toe weakness/muscle strength concerns, we have been in communication with Ge**er regarding the issue. Ge**er is aware of the concern and has placed a stop-sale on the affected Turkey Starter formula.
👉 If you are currently feeding Ge**er’s Turkey Starter to your market broilers, please change your feed immediately. Do not continue feeding the affected formula.
We also ask that exhibitors notify the OSU Extension Office if you believe your birds have been affected. We are trying to get a better understanding of how many birds and exhibitors may have been impacted so that we can appropriately address the situation and provide additional information as it becomes available.
Vitamin and mineral nutrition is extremely important for growing broilers, and nutrients such as riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and selenium play important roles in normal growth, muscle function, and overall bird health.
Please remember that leg and toe issues can have multiple causes, so if you are seeing weakness or other concerning symptoms in your birds, we encourage you to contact your veterinarian or a poultry nutrition professional as well.
Our priority is the health of your birds and making sure our exhibitors have the information they need to finish their projects successfully.
📞 If your birds have been affected or you have questions about changing your feed, please contact the OSU Extension Office – Coshocton County.
Please share this post with other Coshocton County market broiler exhibitors so we can make sure everyone receives this important information.
