SAE SPOTLIGHT: Goat Production & Entrepreneurship
Student: Zaxsen Faries
This weekβs SAE Spotlight features one of our 8th grade FFA members and his passion for raising and showing goats!
Through his SAE, he breeds and raises his own show goats, giving him hands-on experience with every stage of livestock production. From selecting breeding stock and caring for does during breeding and kidding season to feeding, monitoring animal health, training, grooming, and preparing goats for the show ring, he takes an active role in managing his herd.
His SAE has helped him develop skills in animal nutrition, genetics and breeding, livestock health, showmanship, record keeping, responsibility, and time management. He also gets to experience the business side of agriculture as he makes decisions about his herd and raises livestock for future show and breeding opportunities.
We love seeing our middle school students turn something they are passionate about into real-world agricultural experience! ππ
Keep growing that herd and those skills! π
