Safety first, creativity second! 🦺🔨🧵 Students are learning important shop safety skills while gaining hands-on experience using basic tools to create their own string art projects. From measuring and hammering to following directions and working safely, they’re building skills they can use far beyond the agriculture classroom! 🛠️🌾

Floral Design CDE practice today was a 10/10! 💐✨ From bud vases to bow making, these girls are putting in the work and building their skills one stem (and ribbon!) at a time. 🎀🌸

💐 State FFA Floral Design Clinic — Fort Valley! 💐

Left Habersham bright and early at 4:30 AM and finally made it back home late tonight! It was a LONG day, but definitely a good one!

So proud of these girls for spending their Saturday learning new floral design skills, getting hands-on experience, and preparing for Floral Design CDE season. 🌿✂️ We covered a lot of miles, learned a lot, and had way too many laughs along the way. 😂

🐑🐐 LAMB & GOAT SHOW CLINIC! 🐐🐑

Want to sharpen your sheep or goat showmanship skills? Join us for a hands-on, small-group Lamb & Goat Show Clinic on August 28 from 6–8 p.m. at the Tattnall County High School Livestock Pavilion!

Our clinic speaker will be Mr. Tim Griffeth, Agriculture Educator at North Oconee High School, who will share tips and instruction on showmanship, animal care, and feeding.

Who should attend?
This clinic is open to area youth and adults! You do NOT have to own an animal to attend. If you're showing this fall, bring your lamb or goat so you can participate in the hands-on portion of the clinic.

SAE SPOTLIGHT: Goat Production & Entrepreneurship

Student: Zaxsen Faries

This week’s SAE Spotlight features one of our 8th grade FFA members and his passion for raising and showing goats!

Through his SAE, he breeds and raises his own show goats, giving him hands-on experience with every stage of livestock production. From selecting breeding stock and caring for does during breeding and kidding season to feeding, monitoring animal health, training, grooming, and preparing goats for the show ring, he takes an active role in managing his herd.

His SAE has helped him develop skills in animal nutrition, genetics and breeding, livestock health, showmanship, record keeping, responsibility, and time management. He also gets to experience the business side of agriculture as he makes decisions about his herd and raises livestock for future show and breeding opportunities.

We love seeing our middle school students turn something they are passionate about into real-world agricultural experience! 💙💛

Keep growing that herd and those skills! 🐐

First FFA meeting of the year = a SWEET success! 🍦💙💛

We kicked off the year with an Ice Cream Social and had around 60 students join us! We loved seeing so many new and returning faces ready to get involved in SHMS FFA. 🌱

We’re excited for a year full of leadership, agriculture, service, competitions, and plenty of fun! Here’s to a great year of Living to Serve! 💙💛
