Right now, I have 3 students who want to join Acting Up but don’t currently have the financial means to participate.

I’ve personally been covering the cost for one student while she waits for a sponsorship to come through.

Supporting youth like this is one of the ways The Hive: Youth Arts & Enterprise Collective shows up in our community.

If you’ve ever wanted to directly help a young person access opportunities like this, here’s a real way to do it.

The Hive is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means your donation may be tax deductible and goes directly toward supporting youth through scholarships and programming.

Donations help remove financial barriers for kids who are ready to show up but just need support getting in the room.

If you’d like to sponsor a student (fully or partially), you can donate at:
HiveYouthCollective.com → click “Donate”

If more funds are raised than needed for these current students, they will go toward future youth scholarships through The Hive.

We’re losing intergenerational connection and it’s costing all of us.

The Hive: Youth Arts & Enterprise Collective exists to bring youth and adults back into real relationship through creativity, mentorship, and shared skills.

This isn’t busywork. It’s community repair.

🐝 Come see it in action at Pitch Night.

Grateful for the chance to stand up for the work I believe in and the kids who inspire it.

🎤 Coos County Pitch Night 2026 | Pitcher Spotlight

Pitch Night brings together people who care about ideas, impact, and the future of our community — and this year’s lineup includes leaders working far beyond the traditional definition of “business.”

Meet one of this year’s pitchers
🌱 Desireé Glenn Gaoiran, Acting Up and The Hive: Youth Arts & Enterprise Collective
Desireé’s work starts with a simple belief: when young people are given real opportunity, everything changes.
Through her work with youth, Desireé creates spaces where creativity isn’t just encouraged — it’s treated as a skill, a voice, and a pathway forward. Her programs focus on helping young people build confidence, practice leadership, and gain tools they can carry into adulthood.

What sets Desireé apart is her focus on trust. She doesn’t talk at youth — she builds alongside them. She makes room for young people to lead, to experiment, and to be seen as capable contributors to their communities.
On the Pitch Night stage, Desireé will share how she’s expanding access to opportunity for youth and what’s possible when we invest early, intentionally, and with care.

She’s not pitching a single idea.
She’s pitching a long-term investment in young people — and in the future of our community.

✨ What is Pitch Night?
Each entrepreneur has six minutes to pitch their idea and growth plans to a panel of judges — and to a room full of community members who help shape the outcome.

🏆 Cash Prizes:
🥇 1st Place: $2,000
🥈 2nd Place: $1,500

Merry Christmas from The Hive: Youth Arts & Enterprise Collective

These handmade mugs were a Christmas gift from my partner, Dan, and were thoughtfully crafted by Celtic Clay Pottery.

They reflect so much of what The Hive stands for: care, craftsmanship, and building something meaningful with real hands and real heart.

Wishing our Hive community a warm and restorative holiday season.🐝🍯

On January 16th at 5pm, The Hive will be pitching our vision.

The Hive exists to give young people real tools before crisis hits. Confidence, mentorship, creative outlets, and opportunities to practice leadership and entrepreneurship in real time.

This work is community-rooted and youth-driven, and it doesn’t happen without people showing up and standing behind it.

If you believe in investing in our kids early, in prevention, and in building something meaningful together, we would love your support in the room on January 16th.
