When you have good principles, good things happen:

1. Space the floor in transition. Fill the corners first if aren't behind then defense. This forces defenses to decide if they will protect middle or get pulled wide. Often times it leaves the middle open.

2. Cut if your defender is behind you.

3. Communicate with your teammate: put your hand up, say something.

4. Use your body to back down the post defender. Get low, power dribble into position.

5. Finish: collect those points!

6. Get a touch on the way down the floor: gets your teammate respect and boosts energy.

Other things:
- have a point guard always with their head up, aware of the opportunities that are unfolding.
- have a point guard who can make that post entry pass

Meet Coach Eric, our Varsity boys head coach for this upcoming season. Eric has a deep history of the game and fits right in to the CHSM mission. He'll be assisted by Coach Josh, who will also be our JV head coach. It's going to be a great year!

Basketball ends.

For every kid who's ever picked up a ball, there's a final buzzer somewhere down the road.

A last game, a last season, a last time putting on the jersey.

But what happens before that final buzzer is what stays.

At CHSM Knights, we believe the court is a classroom. Discipline. Perseverance. How to lose with grace and win with humility. How to show up for your teammates even on the days you don't feel like showing up for yourself. These aren't just "basketball skills," they're life skills, and they're being built practice by practice, game by game, season by season.

CJ, our head of spiritual development, puts it simply: the game will fade. The lessons won't.

That's the heart of what we're building here, a homeschool basketball program where faith, character, and competition come together. We're not just trying to develop better players. We're trying to help raise young men and women who carry what they learn on this court into every part of their lives, long after the ball stops bouncing.
