We had another amazing turnout for our cruise meet this past Saturday (Aug 15) at Incredible Pizza. A total of 43 vehicles. Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the heat.

Bill Hatch is a 94-year-old Carlsbad, California, man who owns a 1957 black Corvette convertible that has been continuously owned by a single individual for 69 years, a feat that earned him a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous ownership of a vehicle from new.
Hatch purchased the car brand new in 1957 for $3,400 while working as a high school English teacher and basketball coach in Monrovia, California. The Corvette, known in automotive terms as a "Survivor," remains in its original factory condition with no added features like air conditioning or power steering, and has accumulated over 171,200 miles on its original engine.
The record was officially recognized in August 2026, surpassing the previous record of 67 years. Hatch’s wife, Marylyn, whom he married in 1962, has been with him throughout the car's history, using it for their honeymoon and daily life, with the couple celebrating anniversaries by driving to In-N-Out Burger. The North Coast Vettes Corvette Club facilitated the Guinness World Record application and hosted a celebration for the couple and their historic vehicle.

WORLD RECORD FOR LONGEST AUTO OWNERSHIP: Bill Hatch purchased a new 1957 Corvette when he was just 25 and now 69 years later he and the black roadster have earned a Guinness World Record for longest continuous automobile ownership.

The club attended a Roll-In this morning (Aug 8th) at First Baptist Conroe. This event was organized by Conroe Cruisers member Joe Derringer. He hopes to make this a monthly event. The stand out car this morning was this 1963 Volkswagen beetle. The owner bought the car brand new in Germany, when he was stationed there. It has been to multiple countries in Europe before being shipped to the US. A true treasure!

We had a great time this morning (Aug 1st) at our cruise meet. There were almost 40 attendees. The highlight was this Packard Station Wagon. A real beauty!
